For our first assignment for Business, we were tasked to create a poster introducing ourselves and why we chose business. I chose it due to my dream of leading my own company, creating my ideas and dreams, and pursuing my goals.
This assignment in particular was primarily to help inform my teacher about myself, but also helped me understand the class. It also made me reflect on the ESLOs: strategic learners (how I learned things and liked to learn, and how I can grow myself through this class and this year), innovative thinking (what to omit and/or write and why), articulate speaking (how to communicate what I think, write, say), and morally intelligent (reflecting on myself).
In hindsight, I found Business 10 to be quite informative and fun. We learned various topics from Goods and Services, Presentations, and Market Prices, to full-on Business Plans. This will be very helpful and useful in the future and in the present, for both school and my future endeavors.
For our final assignment and project, we were tasked to create a financial investment report on three to five companies. At least one company need to be listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, (SET), and one listed on the National Association of Stock Dealers Automated Questions (NASDAQ). In the end, we would have to recommendation at least one portfolio on how to allocate 100,000 USD and invest in the stock (how much, why, et cetera).
My partner and I chose four companies, two from SET and two from NASDAQ. We had to research, plan, and analyze the companies' history and profile, news, and financials. All of this, in turn, would lead to our recommendation to invest how much for how long in said companies. We repeated this process for all four companies. We also went an extra mile to do three different plans depending on the client: one short-term plan and two long-term plans (risky and risk-averse). We also listed our references and cited each website we used.
In hindsight, I learned how to firstly convert one currency to the other in order to compare it and help in allocation and investment. More importantly, though, I learned how to research and look at a company's profiles, financials, and stock in order to recommend a portfolio and allocate it correctly in order to maximize returns. This led to learning about reading a company's stock and financials, such as the Price-to-Book Value (P/BV) and Price-to-Earnings Ratio..
There was the inconvenience of my partner not as willing to help in the report, which led to me pulling a couple of all-nighters in order to research, report, and finish the assignment. But other than that, the only other problem was that I learned not all companies pay dividends. This made it far harder to analyze said companies.
