Before LeAnn Rimes, Nick Lachey, and Ne-Yo, Big League Sports crowned their very own Masked Singer Champion. Yes, you read that right - back in 2020, Big League Sports hosted a virtual BLS Masked Singer competition. But what does a singing competition show have to do with social sports? Well, in 2020, when there were no social sports, Big League launched an online platform to keep players engaged, and the BLS Masked Singer was only one small piece of it.
Here's the opening to the show!
(If you're excited to see more, you can check out the first episode linked below! )
Big League Celebrity, Christian Cruz, hosted both the Masked Singer competition as well as Big League News - a weekly "news" update that often turned a bit wacky. Gino Cabrera's alter ego was found playing a game of kickball against his dog, interviewing himself, and more.
In addition to Gino...I mean...Christian Cruz's shows, Nizam Singletary hosted a weekly live stream where he chatted with Superstars about TV shows, movies, and careers!
I spoke with Big League CEO, Maurice Reep, about the decision to take this social sports league online. "When we couldn't play sports outside or inside, it was so important to keep people engaged. We wanted to make sure our players still had ways to stay connected for their mental health. We were able to do Big League News, The Masked Singer, The Nizam Singletary Show. We did trivia. Movie nights. Switch game parties. We had something going almost every night of the week! There was always something going on to make sure all our players were able to stay connected to one another."
Big League COO John Dematas spearheaded a fundraiser that allowed BLS to purchase meals from partner bars such as Whiskey Lounge and Brick House Bar and Grill. These meals were delivered to feed first responders in four local hospitals, expanding the impact of Big League Sports.
