On Thursday, March 6th, Big League Sports saw the return of the Clash of the Cities tournament in a whole new format: a scramble. The tournament hosted over 60 players divided into 8 teams, each representing either Stamford or Westchester. All Stamford players were asked to wear blue shirts while all Westchester players were asked to wear red. When players arrived, they were rounded up and discovered which team they had been randomly placed on. Two teams from each city went to each of the courts, and then the tournament was on!
Stamford 1
Stamford 2
Stamford 3
Stamford 4
Westchester 1
Westchester 2
Westchester 3
Westchester 4
The tournament ran in two parts. First was a round robin where all teams assigned to the same court faced the other teams on their court. At the end of the first round, the top two teams from each court went to the finals. As if poetically planned, on Court A, both Stamford teams moved on and on Court B, it was both Westchester teams. This meant that the semi finals were Stamford 1 vs Westchester 4 and Stamford 2 vs Westchester 3. Continuing to keep the poetry, the final two teams standing were each representing a different city: Stamford 1 vs Westchester 3. In the end it was Westchester that took home the trophies!
Last month, I mentioned that this newsletter would have an announcement: the next Big League Clash of the Cities Tournament. I am excited to announce this year's Clash of the Cities: Kickball Edition tournament will take place on Saturday, June 21st at the Stamford JCC. The kickball tournament will also be a scramble! All players who want to participate should be looking out for sign ups to open later this month.
Westchester proved to be the more dominant city in dodgeball...who will prove to be the better city on the kickball field?
Stamford, Connecticut has been a second home for Big League kickball for over 14 years! Believe it or not, our longest consecutive manager in all of Big League Sports is Chris, our Stamford Kickball manager (...sorry Niz and Gino). Stamford holds the record for most hosted Clash of The Cities Tournaments, home of the most unique season of kickball - Holiday Kickball, and the biggest after parties! Stamford also holds the record for most flip cup games, running official flip cup tournaments throughout each season with trophy winners in week eight! That's right... in Stamford its not just on the field that you can earn a trophy, you can also earn one at the after party!
Westchester may be the "Big League Sports Headquarters" in many ways, but Stamford continues to give them a run for their money.
In last month's newsletter, I was excited to announce that Big League Sports is expanding in Stamford by adding a Thursday night volleyball league! Fortunately, thanks to our partnership with the Stamford JCC, this expansion will continue with the addition of a softball league on Sunday afternoons! Bringing softball to Stamford turns them from a two-sport-a-season city to a four-sport-a-season city! Saturday Kickball, Wednesday Cornhole, Thursday Volleyball, and now, Sunday Softball!
To celebrate, BLS is offering a crazy deal: Stamford Play More Save more where every league you add on increases your savings:
1st League: Standard League Fee
2nd League: $15 off
3rd League: $30 off
4th League: $45 off
If you play in all four leagues, that's a savings of $90! Codes are on the Stamford sport pages, which you can find below:

I am excited to see these new leagues start. And... as I often am able to provide cool perks for my readers: I will be able to give away a free season of either Stamford Volleyball or Softball to a player who sends me a photo in a BLS shirt in a cool location!
Stamford, get ready, because I am coming for that first Softball trophy! (Looking for some teammates as well!)

Congratulations to Rebel Riders, Foolish Hit, and Tickle My Pickle for their continued championships runs at the end of this year's winter season!
*All champions are two time champions unless otherwise noted.
This Spring will be the largest season in Big League Sports History with 16 leagues running at the same time!
