Summer 2025 Tuesday Kickball Shirts
Ever wonder about the magic behind the league shirts you and your teammates wear every season? What seems like a simple piece of apparel is actually the result of a meticulously planned and passionately executed process. From the moment the shirts are ordered to the moment they're in your hands, a small army of dedicated people are working behind the scenes to make it all happen.
It all starts before the season even kicks off. Orders are placed just a day before the league begins, giving the team about a week to get everything ready for players to receive them by week two. But before any ink hits the fabric, a crucial decision has to be made: what colors will be used?
an early draft of a color chart
This isn't as simple as just picking a color from a chart. The available shirt colors change with every new season. Once an ink color is chosen, Maurice and I spend hours carefully reviewing each potential shirt color, imagining how they will interact. We're looking for a combination that pops, avoiding anything that might clash or make the design hard to read - as well as carefully considering the time of year. This thoughtful process ensures that every season has its own unique look and feel.
The logos themselves are also a work of art and careful planning. You might not notice it, but the front logo with all the listed sports is constantly being adjusted. Sometimes there are more of one sport than another, or a sport might be added or changed throughout the year. These details are a lot to manage, but they're all part of the process of making sure your shirt is perfect.
And what about the back logo? That depends on your league! If your league has a bar partner, you'll see their logo proudly displayed. Leagues without a bar partner get a clean back or a non-bar partner logo, ensuring every shirt is unique to its league. Over the years, the shirts have evolved to celebrate milestones, too. Think of anniversary years being added to logos or the ultra-exclusive "Founding Member" shirts given to the first season women's league players - each one a piece of history.

drafting the new design
Once the designs and colors are finalized, the real work begins. The shirts are printed, but the job isn't done yet. In a move that truly shows how much the team cares about keeping league fees down, we personally handle all the pickups. Instead of paying hefty delivery fees, Maurice, Gino, Niz, and I are often on the road at all hours of the day and night - including a recent 2am pickup. With 16 leagues being submitted and completed at different times, this means 16 separate pickup trips. What seems like a mundane task is a true labor of love and a testament to the village of people who work hard to get your shirts to you.
So next time you pull on your league shirt, take a moment to appreciate the incredible amount of thought, time, and effort that went into it. From the unique color choices to the late-night pickups, it's all done to ensure you look and feel your best on the field.

In the world of sports, the final week of the season is often reserved for championship games. But at Big League Sports, we believe everyone deserves a shot at glory, or at least a shot at a good time! That’s why we’ve completely reimagined what week eight - our final week - looks like, ensuring every single player gets to play, regardless of whether they won their playoff games.
So, you battled hard all season, made it to the playoffs, but came up just a little short? Don't hang up your cleats (or sneakers) just yet! If you lose your playoff match, you’re not sent home. Instead, you get to participate in a "play-in-place" game or a final seeding game. This means you’ll still hit the field and compete against another full team that lost their playoff game. It's a fantastic way to end the season with a competitive game, a chance to show what your team is really made of, and a final opportunity to secure some serious bragging rights.
While the play-in-place and final seeding games are a great way to close out the season, a new and increasingly popular tradition has emerged: the "scramble" or "mix-and-match" week. This is where the magic truly happens. Non-championship teams show up, drop their team loyalties for the night, and get mixed up with players from other teams who also didn't make it to the finals. You'll find yourself playing alongside new people, forming temporary dream teams, and competing in a low-stakes, high-fun environment.
The scramble is more than just a game; it's a social event. We’ve seen countless friendships blossom, new roommates found, and even a few love stories start on the scramble field. It's a perfect encapsulation of what a social league is all about: community. It’s become so popular that we even had teams try to forfeit their spot in the championship match just so they could join the scramble!
In a delightful twist, our Thursday night women's league loved the idea so much that players emailed in and requested to start their season with a scramble game. This led to friendships forming across team lines from week one, proving that sometimes, you don't even need a loss to bring a win.
So, next time you're heading into the playoffs, remember that no matter the outcome, week eight is guaranteed to be a blast. Whether you’re competing for a third-place finish or making new friends during a scramble game, the season ends with a win for everyone. Who knows, a playoff loss might just be the best thing that ever happened to you it could lead you to your next travel buddy, best friend, or maybe even your future roommate! Because at Big League Sports, the biggest win isn’t the championship trophy, it’s the community we build along the way.
