Dublin has lots of places to eat or simply to have a chat and a drink. Prices may vary from one place to another depending on the area too. Here is a selection of places we recommend for your trip to Dublin.
For nearly 100 years, Bewley’s Café on Grafton Street has been Dublin’s favourite place for coffee, delicious food and timeless charm. This place has deeply intertwined with Ireland’s literary and artistic heritage. Follow in the footsteps of James Joyce, W.B. Yeats and Samuel Beckett. Admire stunning stained glass artworks by Harry Clarke, Pauline Bewick and Jim Fitzpatrick. Immerse yourself in the “legendary, clattery café’ for one of Dublin’s most iconic hospitality experiences. My personal recommendation is afternoon tea with a scone.

At Bewley's you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or coffee with pastries. Scones are a must. If you have never tried them, this is a wonderful place to try them for the first time. As a curiosity, there are some people that spread the cream first and then the jam and there are some others that do it the opposite way. They say they taste different depending on how you do it. What do you think?
Bewley’s Oriental Café is located on Grafton street which is a pedestrian street. This street has a lot of famous and luxury shops. If you walk down this street, you can enjoy live music at different points in the day or at night during the whole week. It is worth visiting Bewley’s café situated next to “Brown Thomas”, just in case you are exhausted after a long day of shopping. As soon as you enter the café, you will see some beautiful decoration from the victorian period. One curiosity is its windows, which are stained glass windows that are really pretty and old.
Definitely Bewley’s Café is a place that you ought to visit when you stay in Dublin because it has a relaxing atmosphere and very good coffee and food. I hope you like it, it surprised me!!

In Bewley’s café you can meet up with friends or family to take a coffee or tea with something to eat. You can choose from a wide variety of teas. Moreover, they have a section to take away food with different breads, cakes or sandwiches.
In addition, this place is very big and it has different floors for the customers, so if you want to have a meeting with your partners or have a google-meet or only working with your PC, you can do it on the second floor which is prepared for it. The top floor has a little theatre, where you can see beautiful shows and enjoy them.

One of the best places to try boxty in Dublin is Gallagher’s Boxty House, located in the lively Temple Bar area. This restaurant is famous for its traditional Irish food and warm atmosphere. Many tourists and locals visit this place to experience authentic Irish flavours. The restaurant serves different types of boxty, along with other classic Irish dishes.
If you visit Dublin, trying boxty is a must! It is a unique part of Irish cuisine that shows the importance of potatoes in Irish history. Gallagher’s Boxty House is the perfect place to enjoy this traditional dish in a cozy and welcoming environment. Whether you are a fan of Irish food or just curious to try something new, boxty is a delicious choice!
Boxty can be made in different ways, such as boxty pancakes, boxty dumplings, and boxty fries. The most common way to serve boxty is as a pancake, filled with delicious ingredients like beef, chicken, or vegetables. The dish is often served with a rich, creamy sauce that enhances the flavour. Some people describe boxty as a mix between a pancake and hash browns.

The Brazen Head is the oldest pub in Dublin and it first opened its doors in the 12th century. Located in Dublin 8 it is near Christchurch and the River Liffey and it was a meeting place for many famous Irish people including Robert Emmet, Jonathan Swift, Daniel O'Connell or James Joyce, who included a reference to this pub in his masterpiece Ulysses.
The Brazen Head is a place to have a drink or enjoy the typical pub food. The atmosphere was very nice and the food is very tasty. A main dish costs about 20€ while a pint of beer is about 8€. We ate: Banger and mash, Spicy chicken wings and beef and Guinness Stew.

The decoration os this old pub includes banknotes and police patches from all over the world. There is live music every night.
The Temple Bar is probably the most famous of all the pubs in Dublin and it appears in many postcards as the image of the typical pub in the city. Named after the neighbourhood where it is located, it is also known as the red pub because of the colour of its walls.
In the Temple Bar you can enjoy a drink in the bar or in the beer garden it has. It is usually crowded with lots of tourists every day so if you want to get a place to listen to live music every day we recommend arriving early. Prices here for a beer are more expensive around 9€ for a pint.

The Oliver St. John Gogarty is one of the best-known pubs in Dublin. Located in Temple Bar it has a central location and it is rather popular with tourists. It occupies a three-storey building where you can find different areas and different atmosphere. One of the things that strikes the most is that there are up to three bands playing live simultaneously, each one in a different area.

As for prices this pub is similar to other pubs in the area. Being in such a central location a pint costs about 9.5€ and a main dish is about 18€. Apart from the pub food served on the ground and first floor there is a more formal restaurant on the top floor with a variety of dishes to choose from a varied menu. Its is definitely worth a visit.
It is a cozy restaurant in the heart of Dublin, that focuses on showcasing the best Irish ingredients. Opened in 2022 it offers seasonal dishes like fresh oysters, aged beef or mushrooms. The vibe is warm and inviting, with stylish interiors and space for private dining. It’s a place for every occasion, offering tasty and affordable foodPerfect for enjoying Irish flavors. Reservation is essential.
Located next to Tara station, you will find the perfect place to enjoy the cheapest pint in town. You also can order some fast food such as pizza or a burger. NOTE: DO NOT ASK for a baby guinness. In this case, you might be tricked

Beanhive Coffee is a delightful café with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Their delicious scones are the must-try, perfectly complementing their High-quality coffee. Plus, they offer student discounts, making it an ideal spot for studying or catching up with friends. Highly recommended!
It is a traditional Irish pub just next to the train station in Howth. It is not that big but it has a great service and exquisite and tasteful food. (Photo by Carolina)
Even though it is a clothes shop, in its upper area it has a huge cafeteria. There, you will find excellent coffee, traditional desserts and a buffet lunch. Another advantage is that it is situated in the centre of Dublin. (Photo by Carolina)
In Baydole, 20 minutes by train from Dublin city centre, you can find this small pub where most of the locals gather for dinner, drink a pint of Guinnes and to enjoy the broadcasts of their favourite sport. Hamburgers, fish and chips, ribs... at a much cheaper price than in Dublin, and with a great atmosphere that makes you feel like one of the locals from the first moment.(Photo by Noé)
KC Peaches has some restaurants around the city. You can choose from a wide variety of sandwiches, pizzas or they have a hot and cold buffet. It is rather popular among students as it is not expensive and there is one restaurant opposite Trinity College Dublin. They have free wifi so it is rather usual to see people working from there.
