St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin is a colourful and lively celebration of Irish culture, featuring a massive parade, live music, and city-wide festivities. The main event is the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade, with colourful floats, marching bands, and performers from around the world. The city comes alive with street performances, traditional Irish dancing, and pub parties filled with Guinness and live music. Famous landmarks, like the GPO and Trinity College, are illuminated in green as part of the "Global Greening" initiative. It’s a lively and unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors! 

It is amazing to see the amount of bands coming from countries like Scotland or the USA for such a celebration. The centre of Dublin is usually closed to traffic to make it easier for pedestrians to get around the city and see the parade. After it, there are open markets, concerts and people fill the streets for the big celebration. Some pubs and places like the Guinness Storehouse or Jameson Whiskey Destillery organize special events to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It is usual to have a pint of "green beer" as green is the colour of Ireland. Many historical buildings are illuminated in green during St. Patrick's week. Another tradition is to wear something green or something Irish such as shamrocks, leprechauns' hats and other stuff. Definitely you should come to Ireland on St. Patrick's Day at least once in a lifetime. 

Christmas in Dublin 

Last Christmas, we had the chance to visit Dublin and it was a truly magical experience. The city was completely transformed by the festive decorations, with streets covered in beautiful lights and Christmas markets set up in various locations, offering a wide variety of food and handmade crafts.

The atmosphere during this time is lively, with people gathering in shopping districts such as Grafton Street, where carols are often sung and hot drinks are served in many cafes.

Dublin during Christmas will probably surprise you, as you will find the city filled with tourists and locals, all enjoying the Christmas spirit.

In addition to the festive decorations, special events are also organized such as ice skating rinks and Christmas theater performances. These activities are enjoyed by both children and adults, making Dublin a great destination for families. If you had the chance to visit, you could also explore the beautiful parks that are decorated with Christmas lights, adding to the magic of the city.
