Pubs are meeting places where people relax after work with colleagues in a more relaxed atmosphere while having a drink or a eating a snack. The pub culture in Ireland is very popular and one night a week the hosting schools invite all their adult students to a different venue to have their students from different levels and nationalities get to know each other outside the more formal setting of the class.
One of the most enjoyable social activities we had in Dublin was the International Pub Night at Mary’s Bar & Hardware. This special event was organized by Apollo Language Centre and brought together international students and teachers for a fun and relaxed evening.
Mary’s Bar & Hardware is a unique and spacious pub located in the city centre. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for socialising and making new friends. During the night, we had the chance to play board games, enjoy live music, and have interesting conversations with people from many different countries.
The presence of some of our teachers made the night even more special, as we could talk with them in a more informal way. The live music added a very cozy and pleasant touch, creating a great environment to chat and have a good time.
It was a great opportunity to practice English, learn about other cultures, and feel part of an international community. Everyone had a lot of fun, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Dublin.
