Elayne has only painted two pottery items. The first was a winged angel and the second a sunflower dish with cover.
Elayne bought an unfinished winged angel years ago and a spray can of glittery paint to spray on it. She lined her bathtub with trash bags for the spraying, however after one or two coats, one of the wings broke off! Not to be deterred, Elayne bought superglue and attached the wing to the body. She then applied several more sprayings, and one would never know a wing had broken off. More than 20 years later the angel looks just as new and is in one piece.
At a timeshare exchange vacation in Yarmouth, MA Elayne attended a pottery painting class. She selected a sunflower dish with cover and painted it in bright yellow with a brown center outlined with black. It was quite simple to do, but Elayne enjoys its brightness and uses the dish to store different size paper clips. It also matches a yellow cermaic coaster/plate she uses for her drinks.
You can't see the iridescent glaze on this angel but it has several coats that were spray-painted in Elayne's bathtub. One of the wings got broken off after the first coating and was superglued back.
This sunflower was easy to paint but Elayne is unable to recall the medium used. It was also sprayed with some type of coating to give it a shiny finish.
