TRANSFORMATION OF 3D ART WITH ACRYLIC PAINT
This 3D printed OM became transformed with acrylic paint. It was printed in an orange material but was not worthy of display until paint was added. This was the process of turning it into more colorful art:
First the 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" OM was painted in a Painter's Palette Lavender acrylic craft paint purchased at the Family Dollar. To ensure the orange was completely covered, it required at least three coats.
The heart was originally painted a light turquoise then with three coats of Painter's Palette Bright Pink acrylic craft paint, also from the Family Dollar.
The base and all sides of the OM and heart were all painted four coats with Artist's Acrylic Titanium White.
Martha Stewart's Gold Multi-Surface Glitter was used to cover the white paint and give it a reflective quality.
Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating was sprayed on the entire top at least twice.
A black fine-point permanent Sharpie was used on the back to indicate the name of the artist and date and that it was 3D-printed at WPL (Woburn Public Library) in 2019.
