Elayne wanted bright blue acrylic paint as a background with some gold glitter paint then she added 5 pouring mixes and let the Spirit move her in creating this artwork. After she studied the finished painting for awhile, she decided to call it "The Growth of Vines" since it had a vine-like and leaf quality.
In this painting Elayne sponged Artist's Loft Bright Blue pouring paint across the canvas then swirled the mixture with the sponge, giving it a wave effect.
Next she sponged Martha Stewart's Gold Multi-Surface Glitter across the canvas for its reflective quality.
As a result of a dream waking up, Elayne poured a combination of acrylic pouring and regular paint in a small paper cup (Phoenix Cadmium Yellow Light Hue, Phoenix Titanium White, System 3 Leaf Green, Artist's Loft Crimson pouring, and Artist's Loft Turquoise pouring). She added paints into the cup as the Spirit moved her then squished the top of the cup to form a funnel and poured in a clockwise motion onto the canvas.
Then she took a small round yellow sponge brush and pressed paint at various intervals into colorful leaf-like structures on and off the vine. Where the leafs needed more color, she added yellow with the edge of the sponge brush.
After drying, Elayne stood back, studied the painting and decided the title needed to be "The Growth of Vines" but had no idea when she was painting it that it had a vine-like look.
To finish the painting, Elayne sprayed a couple of coats of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating and used a permanent black fine-point Sharpie to name the artist, date and title on the bottom underside.
Note: Elayne often displays this painting on her dining/living room wall stereo.
The green-sponged pourings emphasized the crimson and yellow paints and provided the leaf element to what looked like a growing vine.
