This painting turned out to be a very playful creation of Elayne's acrylic pouring paints with a painted canvas background of Artist's Loft Metallic White mixed with Martha Stewart's Multi-Surface gold glitter paint. The lavender section has a raised as well as shiny feel to it.
Elayne created her own pourings for each of the following colors:
Painter's Palette Light Turquoise
Painter's Palette Lavender
Phoenix Titanium White mixed with Martha Stewart's Gold Glitter
Elayne began by pouring a Lavender rectangular shape in the center of the canvas and tipped it outwards keeping a margin of white at the edges.
Within the lavender base were lots of open white areas that she painted in yellow, turquoise, green and white.
On the lavender base Elayne used small circular brushes to create different size dots of yellow and turquoise and also painted turquoise dots in the white canvas margins.
Cobalt dots were added at various places in the lavender base then dotted with turquoise. Some cobalt was also added in a few yellow and green dots.
Because Elayne did not want white canvas showing, she used her Titantium White and Martha Stewart's Multi-Surface gold glitter mixture to fill in all those areas. It was a challenge trying to paint around various shapes and in some cases she had to touch up their colors.
After Elayne studied the painting, she decided to call it "The Children's Playground."
The final step was to spray with Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating and name and date on the back.
Note: Elayne loves this painting and often displays it on her dining/living room wall stereo.
The heart of this painting is the lavender background where Elayne played with turquoise, green, yellow, and cobalt paints making it more fun with lots of sponged circles and even a center drip of lavender onto the side of the canvas.
Just as children are growing, so is Elayne in her painting. Imperfect spots were painted over.
