Elayne wanted to use a bright pink as a background color and see what emerged as a painting.
Elayne made her own acrylic pouring using 50% System 3 Fluorescent Pink in a mixture of 50% Elmer's Glue and 50% water and covered the canvas.
She then created a layering mixture of Phoenix Cadmium Yellow Light Hue, Phoenix Titanium White, Artist's Loft Turquoise pouring, Artist's Loft Bright Blue pouring, and System 3 Leaf Green in a paper cup and poured it in tight rectanglar movements around the canvas beginning in the center.
Before it all dried, she sprinkled Gold Glitter on the mixture.
Because it looked like the skin of a Boa Constrictor with the head in the upper half, Elayne called the painting "Boa's Sanctuary."
It got at least two coats of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating and was named and dated on the back with a black fine-point permanent Sharpie.
A SHOWING
This painting was shown at a Woburn Guild of Artists critique meeting and got a lot of good comments. In the light, the gold glitter really shines and the painting stands out.
