EN-Light Arts is dedicated to various types of art created by Elayne M. Neal who uses the pen name E. N. Light in both her writings and artwork. As with most of her works, Elayne's art is primarily spiritual in nature in design or colors and most always reflective. Her acrylic paintings use gold glitter in some form and a lot of her jewelry is made from various types of reflective glass or metals.
By having this website, Elayne's intent is to accomplish several things:
The consolidation of all her art into one easy-to-view place, rather than just in file folders on her computer
The naming of each piece of art under its appropriate category for easier access and viewing along with one or more photos
The detailed method of creating the art where known for Elayne's reference and historical purposes and to answer any questions from interested persons.
A few of the art pieces are quite old, created when Elayne was friends with Louise Fraher Savage whom she met in Girl Scouts and who became a close friend. Louise attended the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in the 1960s and was an accomplished artist. While in Senior High School Louise began teaching Elayne the use of pastels, but both their lives got busy and Elayne only did a few drawings that were colorful but ameteurish.
Mystical Rose - In 1965 while on a temporary job assignment in Allentown, PA, Elayne had an unusual happening, explained in the Watercolor Category under the page titled "Mystical Rose." It was a channeled work of art that caused Elayne to reflect on her spiritual path and the spiritual life.
Stained Glass - One of Elayne's loves is stained glass. In the 1990s while working on a contracted job at Digital Equipment Company in Maynard MA, a co-worker asked her if she would like to take a stained glass class at one of the local schools. This was a fun class, creating at first some simple pieces that eventually evolved into window and lamp glass.
Circles of Light Jewelry - In the beginning of 2010 Elayne became frustrated with the expensive but cheaply made necklaces in the marketplace and took a one-on-one class with a jewelry maker in No. Woburn MA after which Elayne began buying beads and supplies at A.C. Moore, Michael's and other places. She created one-of-a-kind reflective necklaces, many with matching earrings, and called her jewelry art Circles of Light. The rest of the story and some of Elayne's over 900 creations, including memory wire bracelets, can be found on the Circles of Light Jewelry website.
Photography - Another of Elayne's loves is photography, especially colorful and impactful photography. In 2012 Elayne's friend Dorothea O'Regan introduced her to the Porter's Art Group cable TV program in Stoneham MA after which Elayne became a participant for five years. Elayne first began reading her original poetry but after a member showed some photographs, Elayne began showing one of her originals next to an artistic rendering done in Photoshop Elements.
Organizations - Although Elayne had been collecting art supplies for years, she was too busy working, creating reflective beaded jewelry, producing photographic PowerPoint programs for the Woburn Senior Center and assisted living facilities, and writing and teaching esoteric subjects to devote any time to producing more art. She did, however, begin attending art demos at the Woburn Guild of Artists from 2015 until the beginning of 2020 when the Covid pandemic hit and places closed to the public (she became a member in 2016), a 4-week watercolor class sponsored by Lexington Community Education in November 2016, and a pastel class at the Woburn Senior Center 12/13/16. In the latter part of 2019 Elayne attended several art classes at the renovated Woburn Public Library that included 3D art, decoupage coasters, and tape resist watercolor, but found acrylic painting and pouring a medium she really enjoys.
Elayne's art is numerous and includes the following categories or subcategories/pages: lots of Photoshop Elements artistic renderings under the Photography Art category, acrylic pourings and paintings by canvas size with titles, painted t-shirts, stained glass, reflective beaded necklaces (some with matching earrings) and beaded memory wire bracelets with a link to Elayne's Circles of Light Jewelry website, painted pottery, decoupage coasters, painted 3D pieces, bath salts, colored spirals, pastels, and watercolors.
As Elayne's art evolves, this website will evolve as well.
