Trip Summary:
I drove through to Kitwe to look at some sites that Lynne recalled from her days in Kitwe and to buy some stock for my return trip.
Soon after crossing the Kafue river, the road entering Kitwe from the South is undergoing maintenance which slowed traffic down.
I stopped at 33 Gallway Avenue to take a photo of the 2nd house that Lynne' parents lived in. Apparently the street numbering has changed and I ended up taking a photo of the wrong house. The semi-detached houses in the street where Lynne lived were replaced by an office building and the street numbers were changed.
The Kangalani Flats were still there. After looking at the photo's Lynne reckons that nothing has changed since she left over 40 years ago (no maintenance appears to have taken place either). While I took some photo's Alfred came up to me and asked what I was doing. After I explained he asked if he could take a selfie of the two of us.
All the old tar roads going through the suburbs are now potholed gravel roads.
I continued to Kuomboka Drive to look at the Kitwe Boys High School where Winston (Lynne's brother) went to school.
If you continue North along Indepedence Avenue, there is a new shopping mall that provides the convenience of modern clean shopping with adequate parking.

I returned to the old part of the town centre to draw some cash and do some shopping at Shoprite. As I parked my bike, a hoard of youngsters surrounded me asking questions about the bike - They had never see a BMW bike and never such a large capacity bike before.
On may way back to the Lodge, I stopped by and took photos of the Nkana cricket grounds and and the Mopani Copper Mine.
I spent the afternoon backing up my Laptop files and washing the bike. At least the bike looks much better than it did.
After slogging it out washing the bike, I cracked open a cold Mosi beer and relaxed.
The chef at Lowden Lodge certainly knows how to prepare good home cooking. Tonight was another great meal. Including myself, there were 5 guests staying at the lodge tonight.

Accommodation: Camping
Lowden Lodge target market are VIPs and is situated on a farm and has a number of chalets. The main building has a veranda to sit and relax, a lounge, dining room and an honesty bar. The gym is meant for guests staying at the lodge.
There is a large swimming pool and pretty garden.
As this is not intended for camping, there is no electricy or water where one can pitch a tent. Luckily they have a external bar counter near the gym with power where I could work on my laptop.
