Trip Summary:
Unbeknown to me, today is a public holiday on Namibia. So what, I only needed:
1) Some welding to the broken crash bar bracket.
2) A tyre fitment centre that could check the BMW front tyre.
I decided to drop in for a cup of coffee at Slow Town before handling the stresses of the day.
Most businesses are closed especially engineering firms and the like. I decided to Google an engineering firm so I could make an early start on Friday 11th. I got to the location and no such company existed.
I spotted a business that was open so I enquired who they would recommend to weld stainless steel. The lady did not think any place would be open but she pointed me to a place further down the road. Luckily the owner was there doing a private job and he was happy to weld the broken bracket - Thank you to "The Blacksmith".
I returned to the Camp Site to fit the repaired bracket.
I then looked for a tyre fitment centre - All were closed so that was my task first thing on Friday.
As I still had an afternoon to spare I decided to ride out to Dune 7 near Walvis Bay. I decided not to spend time in Walvis Bay as Lynne & I had spent time touring this area in 2014 where I also learnt how to Kite Surf.
While this is not the highest sand dune, Namibia is known to have the highest sand dunes in the world. I took the coastal road (B2) which is tar and returned along the "salt road" (D1984) which is currently being upgraded to a tar road.

I returned to camp to start on the WEB site update when I heard the sound of bikers arriving at the camp site.
After about 15 minutes, I decided to investigate. Three BMW GS Riders from Potchefstroom were doing a ride-about. We chatted for a while before I returned to the laptop.
At 17h00 I met Tienie at Backpackers and we walked up to the Pizzeria restaurant for dinner - I am not sure you can beat these pizza's. The restaurant has a new owner, Marco, but the chef's are the original guys and they know how to make pizza's. Thankfully, Marco has kept the original styling and atmosphere of the place.

The salt road - Fantastic road, except when it is wet
Accommodation: Camping
Alte Brucke Holiday Resort is a 5 star place to stay.
They are close to the beach and town centre to walk to.
They provide chalets or caravan sites with private ablusions, electricity, lights, water and grass.
There is good security and they also offer dinner and breakfast at premium rates.
Lynne & I stayed in Swakopmund on previous trips in 2011 & 2014. It is a "must visit" place with lots of activities, pubs and restaurant to keep you busy.
