Trip Summary:
I got up at 07h09 and there was thick fog. Everything outside the tent was wet.
Due to my super efficency, I had done all the things I needed to do in Swakopmund the day before so I decided that I would take the gravel road to Windhoek via the Bosua Pass. It is about 60km shorter than the tar road but takes about 2 hours longer. After travelling about 25km the fog stopped and the temperature started increasing. The first 100km is a good tar road then for a further 50km is it an excellent gravel road allowing you to maintain a good speed of 120km/h. At this point you start the Bosua Pass that winds up and down the mountains through valleys until about 60km before Windhoek. This is a lovely pass but the going is slow and needs your full attention. I stopped at the top and read the information board on the geology and had coffee and rusks (my breakfast). The temperature for most of the ride varied between 24C and 28C. The last 25km to Windhoek was tar. Over the total distance of 300km, I only passed 4 vehicles on the road. So yes, it was a good day bike riding.

A typical road in this part of the world
On my arrival in Windhoek, I went to BMW to drop in on Ditto to check my service was still in order first thing tomorrow and whether he had secured new tyres. Thank goodness he could get a set of Mitas EO7. I do not think a set of a different brand would get me through the next 10,000km.
I headed to Arrebbusch to setup camp, find a cold beer, work on my WEB site and have dinner.
