Trip Summary:
Well, Tietiesbaai did not disappoint. I woke up at 06h50 and it was 9C and everything was sopping wet from the fog.
I waited until the sun came out to try and dry the tent out. At is was taking longer than I thought it would, I packed and departed at 08h30.
I rode through Vredenburg, Port Owen, Elandsbaai, Lamberts Bay, Vredendal before getting onto the N7 at Klaver. I was not aware that Vredendal was a big grape producer. Grape farms always make picturesque settings.
I took a private gravel road along the Sishen to Saldanha Iron-ore railway line in the hope of seeing a train. I was not disappointed. The train must have been 2km long.
The scenary along the N7 is bland until you get to the mountainous part closer to Springbok. The ride becomes more fun as you travel along winding roads through the mountains.
I have been through Springbok twice before but this is the first time I slept there and had a chance to look around. It is a small town that nestles tightly amongst the mountains and appears to be a popular stop over for travellers between Cape Town and Windhoek.
I went to the Pot and Barrel and enjoyed lamb chops for dinner.
The Springbok Caravan camp had 5 campers. I met a Dutch couple and a family of 4 from Cape Town who were all travelling to Namibia on vacation.
So far I have had perfect riding weather with temperatures varying between 15 and 23C, little wind and no rain.

Accommodation: Camping
The Springbok caravan camp is situated outside Springbok which is a plus. Considering the arid nature of the environment, they do try and make it as green as possible by providing trees and grass patches at each camp site.
Each camp site has electricity and water and the ablutions have hot water and are kept clean.
There is a security guard on duty and being situated out of town, it feels safe to camp here.
