Trip Summary:
First objective of the day: Get the front tyre checked for the slow leak. I stopped off at Dunlop and they could not help as they do not have the correct tools for motorcycles. They directed me to Yamaha. The guy removed the tyre and together we cleaned the tyre and rim. The two where married again and we did a thorough check ... No Leaks. By 09h30 I was heading to Henties Bay. They are replacing the Salt Road with a Tar Road so there are long detours, however the speed was still good as the detours were good roads.
Along the way I stopped at 32-mile beach and the boat wreck. The fishing spots along the beach North of Swakopmund is measured in miles. 32 Mile is one of many and you could see the guys parked on the beach fishing.
I decided to stop at Henties Bay for breakfast. As one drives through the main street, Orca coffee shop stood out so I stopped and had breakfast and coffee. The owner, Marco stopped and chatted. He has a 2012 BMW R 1200 GS. He gave some advice on the way forward that I took and headed off to Uis.

With the roadworks, I think my GPS gave the wrong direction and I ended up on the D1918 instead of the better C35 that Marco recommended. The D1918 was not a good road. 200km of corrugations, long sections of sand and thick loose gravel that did not allow me to take my eye off the road for a second. The first 90km from Henties Bay was like riding on a tread mill .... You working hard but the scenary remains the same so you feel you are going nowhere. As I was riding past Spitzkoppe, I heard a bang and a sound like a flat tyre. I stopped and got off the bike to find that the rear mudguard had broken and was scraping on the tyre. I was relieved that it was not a flat tyre. I tied the mudguard to my bike and continued (Sean, at least I carry my own parts).

Restaurant in Uis
As I entered Uis, I saw a sign that said "Good Coffee". I stopped off to have some coffee (filter coffee is considered good in this region). There after I stopped to refuel. A mini bus of Chinese tourists got out and started asking questions and taking photos of me on the bike.
Uis was built on a tin mine that is now closed due to lack of sufficent water to keep it going. You can see the mine dumps around the town.
I checked in "The White Lady" which is also referred to as "Daureb Isib" and setup camp. I took a dip in the pool that felt rather cold considering it is in the sun all day.
I caught up on some washing and then finished the remaining Pizza for my supper.
Accommodation: Camping
The White Lady Rest Camp has a very nice B&B. The camping sites are rustic with the key ingredients of electricity, water, hot showers, clean ablusions and secure electric fencing around the property.
The owner popped in to check that all was well and we chatted a bit before he continued on his way.
Next time I would like to try the Daureb Isib Campsite
