What if... the fairies do exist
"I'm sorry." Alex was squatting down. He held his head between his knees and his hands on the top of his head.
"It's alright." Kato held a cold bottle of water against Alex's neck. "Everybody can be sick."
"Not for that," Alex mumbled. He was sorry for yesterday, for the misunderstanding, because of which Kato ignored him the rest of the evening. He didn't understand why, but it seemed that his words hurt Kato; not that that stopped him for showing up in his room in the middle of the night, climbing up into his bed and wrapping his arms around him. He should have said sorry then, but he had pretended to be asleep and in the morning… it was easier to stay quiet. "For yesterday."
"I'm sorry too." Kato's fingers were on Alex's head, he stroked the soft hair, causing a few strands to get loose from the pigtail.
"You are saying that 'cause I don't feel good."
"And you said sorry because you know I won't push and complicate things when you're like this."
"Maybe."
"Not maybe." Kato's palm slid lower, he patted the place between Alex's shoulders. "Are you feeling better now?"
"Yeah, I think so." Alex nodded; there was no heavy, agitated feeling in his stomach and no raising acid in his throat anymore.
"You should have told us that you have a car sickness. We could buy some pills or something like that."
"I don't have a car sickness. It was something that I eat and that's why those turns and twists of the road upset my stomach." He hated the roundabout roads, when driving on those he always had to concentrate on some fixed point in the distance, there was none on this one; bushes, trees and rock walls too close on the side of the road. And now Kato has seen him like that, weak and throwing up. What a great start of the trip.
"Of course, it's the food fault." Kato chuckled and wrapped his arms around Alex. "You are so cute."
"I throw up and you think I'm cute?" Talk about absurd. Alex went with his tongue over his teeth; he really needs to brush his teeth.
"It's always something with you." Kato signed and leaned with his forehead on Alex. "Why can't you take the compliment without comments? And when we are at this, why don't you want to take gifts from me?"
"We went over this." A car, little and cute like kinder-egg's toys, Smart, which Kato gave him the day after his birthday, was too expensive of a gift for Alex to receive it, and besides he learned the price of Kato's gifts in Ljubljana. "I appreciate the gesture, but I can't accept the car."
"I'm not talking about the car. I also gave you other things."
Yeah, he had, little expensive trifle; almost all in the same price range as the car. With taking them, he felt like Kato would be paying him for the sexual encounters (which might be the reason behind the gifts) or fear that Kato would use them against him. He had accepted one, one that looked the least expensive, a narrow silver, old-fashioned looking chain with a pendant in the shape of a tear. He fingered the necklace, showing it to Kato. "Yes, you did. And if you don't drop the subject, you'll get this back."
Kato chuckled. "What's that supposed to be, a threat or manipulation?"
"Neither. I'm not-"
"Are we ready to continue?" James stood above them, his arms crossed on his chest.
"I think we are." Kato rubbed Alex's shoulder. "Alex?"
"Yeah." Alex stood up.
"James, I hope you don't mind sitting in the back." Kato stood up too. "I'm driving." He turned toward Alex. "You are sitting in the front, there's still some turns…"
"I don't mind." James went toward the car.
"Kato." Alex took hold of Kato's wrist. "Thank you", he swallowed, "for taking care of me…"
"Doitashimashite, you are welcome." Kato patted Alex's hand.
Xxx
"What about the luggage, and do you really intent to leave car here, wont it get in the way?" Alex glimpsed over his shoulder to the Mercedes that was parked carelessly before the three steps that led to the veranda and the double entrance door.
"The staff will take care of everything." Kato grabbed Alex's hand and pulled him up the stairs.
The double door opened and a four voices choir, consisted of two girls and two boys, with a light bow greeted them, "Irasshaimase, Welcome."
"You are late." A younger version of Sean Connery, but without the patches of naked skin between short ash-blond hair and without the Irish accent, appeared behind the welcoming committee and pushed his way through.
"It's his fault." Kato nodded in Alex's direction.
"You are here now, that's important." The Sean Connery look-a-like pulled Kato into a big hug and pressed a wet kiss right on Kato's mouth.
Oh, my God, is that a French kiss? How rude. Alex tired to pull his hand out from Kato's grip.
Kato patted blonde's back and moved out from the hug, he pulled Alex in front of him. "Alex, let me introduce to you David Campton, one of my oldest friends and who's guilty for my passion for music. And David, this is Alex."
"I've heard a lot about you." David offered Alex his hand.
"I wish I could say the same." Alex took the hand; he didn't wanted to be impolite. Dirty old paedophile, kissing his Kato like that. The handshake was strong and the green eyes looking down on him were friendly and warm. Ok, maybe not a paedophile, Kato was thirty-one years old after all, but still, David looked like he was somewhere between forty and fifty, that and the kissing Kato part, in Alex's book made him a dirty old man, not to mention the fact that the man was dressed in the robe in the middle of the day.
"We'll remedy this." David nodded to James, "James, nice to see you again," hooked his arm around Alex's shoulder and led him inside.
Kato, Alex looked back at Kato and mouthed silently, save me.
"It's ok."
No, it's not. Alex quickly grabbed Kato's hand and he pulled him with them. He wasn't going anywhere alone with this man; his mommy taught him not to go anywhere with strangers.
The first thing Alex had to do was get rid of his shoes and then he was led through a long corridor with wooden walls and a few paper sliding door on each side of the hall; at the end of it they turned right and at the end of this one right again David opened the last door on the left. "This is Kato's room."
The room was big; with a long niche in the middle of the wall, which had a half meter high, light brown, wooden pedestal in it, on which was a black platter and in it a bonsai cherry tree. On each side of the long niche were two slightly narrow niches and in it low cabinets in the shape of cubes. In the middle of the room was a low table made from light brown wood, with chairs that didn't have feet, and at the end of the room a glass wall. Two armchairs with a table were by the glass and everything separated from the room with two sliding paper doors, which were at the moment opened.
"It's lovely." Alex took a closer look at the glass wall, one of the tall windows looked like it could be a sliding door. There was also another sliding door perpendicular to the glass wall, he quickly crossed the distance and opened the door for a peek.
There was a čarge, big bed consisting from a black wooden pedestal with a futon and narrow, square lights on each side. Before the bed was a black table in the shape of an ellipse, two pillows in the same shape on each side of the table, and on the other side of the bed another sliding door and one normal door.
"Really lovely." Alex turned toward the host who sat down on the pedestal in the niche.
"I'm glad you like it." Kato went toward the pedestal and sat beside David. "Because you're going to share it with me."
"I see." Alex wrapped his arms around himself. "There's not enough room? I could share with James."
David smiled and smoothed the folds of what looked like a kimono green-robe with his fingers. "There are enough rooms, but I'm afraid Kato insisted that you are put in his room."
"I like to have you near." Kato narrowed his eyes at David before he bestowed a small smile on Alex. "Just in case I need anything."
"I see." Liar, you only want me near in case you get horny. Alex went toward the windows. A view of the wooden porch, wooden paths, and the patches of grass and sand, designed in some sort of pattern around a large pool with a marble border around it opened before him. "I expect there's an additional futon somewhere."
"No." Kato said.
"Yes, I put one in the closet in the bedroom." David stood up and went to Alex, ignoring Kato's ugly looks; he put a hand on Alex's shoulder. "I do hope you enjoy your stay, Alex, and if Kato's starts to bother you, don't hesitate to come to me, I know how to put him in order."
"David, don't get too friendly, Miko's not going to like it." Kato got to his feet.
Alex's fingers reached toward a latch on the window. "Can I go out?"
"Sure, just don't get lost." David removed his hand from Alex's shoulder. "And there are slippers on the porch you can use."
Alex looked over his shoulder and when Kato nodded, he opened the door and went through them, sliding them shut behind him and putting on the slippers that were by the wall. He went by the pool and carefully raked the sand between the grass, and stepped on the path that led between the trees, away from the house.
He passed a small rose garden with a gazebo in the middle and then a string of small waterfalls followed; each one had a small pool and clouds of stem rising over it. He took a left path, following the water and took another left turn. It brought him to a large pool with a wooden roof over it and flat rock in and around it, a small waterfall ran down over the rocks into a little smaller pool. He squatted down and put a hand under the running water. It was warm.
"Valart Alex, Kato's assistant, I presume?"
Alex winced at the voice that came from nowhere, looked up and a fairy in a cascade of white silk was looking down on him. He nodded and stood up.
"Nomura Miko." The fairy slightly nodded and long tail of black hair oscillated.
How can a person have such a white skin, Alex stared at the man, and where were his wings?
Miko tugged first on one long sleeve and then the other and when Alex was still staring at him, he raised his eyebrows.
"Oh, sorry." Alex gave him a slight bow. "Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu, nice to meet you.
"Alex Valart, would you like to have a tea with me?"
"Onegaishimasu. Yes, please."
"Follow me, please." The fairy slid passed him, the white silk with a bunch of red, embroidered flowers floating behind him, he led Alex toward the gazebo Alex saw earlier.
"Please, sit down." The silk flew in an elegant arch through the air and Miko waited until Alex sat down on one of the cosy looking pillows that were scattered around the low table before he gathered the folds of fabric in his hand and sat down himself. He pulled a phone out of his sash, dialled a number and then said a few words in Japanese into the receiver.
Alex presumed because of the ocha he heard that this was an order for tea. He gathered more pillows around himself to make himself more comfortable, he was almost lying on them, but then Miko raised his eyebrow and suddenly Alex's back was almost as straight as Miko's.
His eyes left Miko for a moment and he looked around. In the distance, he could see two figures on the porch. They were sitting awfully close. He narrowed his eyes to see better and he could swear that they were holding hands, no, wait; the figure in the green was patting the other one. That old geezer was making moves on Kato. Bastard.
Miko followed Alex's gaze. "You don't have to worry, their story was finished a long time ago."
"Huh?" Alex put his palms on his knees. What did he mean? Did Kato and that man have something in the past? What if David is…? "Mister Campton's an American?" When Miko nodded, Alex continued, "how long has he been living in Japan?"
"Around twenty years," Miko said and then he titled his head, as if he were listening to something. "Ah, I think the tea's coming."
Xxx
"Where have you been so long?" Kato lifted his upper body from the pillows that were piled on the rug in the corner of the room and put the book he was holding down on the floor. "I thought I'd have to organise a search party."
"I had a tea party with a fairy." Alex closed the glass door behind him and went toward Kato.
"With a fairy? Where did you found it?" Kato opened his arms.
O, Kato wanted a cuddle moment, Alex loved those. He would throw himself onto Kato's chest, but because he didn't want to appear too eager, he, with dignity, lowered himself into the embrace of Kato's arms and buried his face into Kato's shirt. "He found me."
"So, it's a he and does that he have a name?" Kato rearranged Alex and wrapped his arms around Alex's waist.
"Miko Nomura." Alex always thought that spot between Kato's neck and shoulder was perfect for his head, he snuggled closer. "He's beautiful."
"He's fifty-one years old."
Really? Alex thought he was around thirty. "So beautiful."
"He's really scrawny, all skin and bone, with elbows sharp like a knife."
"How do you know?" Alex looked up and saw Kato smirking down on him with a light pink dusting his face.
"Is it really important?"
"No." Alex put his leg over Kato's and his fingers started to play with the button of Kato's polo shirt. "That man David…"
"Yeah?" Kato's fingers slid under the edge of Alex's T-shirt.
"You seem to be very close with him." Alex twirled the button.
"I am. I used to live with him," Kato's thumb brushed against Alex's skin, "he was there when I needed somebody. He was also the one that showed me that I can be and do anything I want."
"But you can do anything you want." Alex leaned into the touch.
"Yes, cause I believe in myself. That's the trick, if you believe in yourself, you can do everything you set your mind to."
"David taught you that?" When Kato nodded, Alex continued, "He sounds special."
"He is. They both are. They met through me, you know." Kato's palm was warm on Alex's skin. "I met Miko when my band was on the rise and I had a wild period and he was in some strange way looking out for me." A soft smile bloomed on Kato's face. "We had so much fun together until they fall in love."
"Fun together?" Alex peeked under his lashes at Kato.
"You don't want to know."
Oh, yes he did, but he didn't argue, because he had an idea what that fun might have meant and he didn't liked it, not one bit.
"Stop looking me like that." Kato pinched him lightly. "Haven't you ever experimented?"
"Nope." Alex pursed his lips together. He was always a one-man man, not a slut like Kato.
"Well, I have and I experimented with the persons that I trust with my life," Kato said it with the tone that said deal with it.
"It's really none of my business."
"Maybe not, but you are my-"
"Personal assistant."
"You are more than that. We slept together, remember? More than once." Kato grabbed Alex's hips, twisted and lifted them, forcing Alex to straddle him.
"Yeah." Alex set his palms on Kato's chest to steady himself.
"You do know that I intend to have my way with you in the future?" Kato lifted himself up into a sitting position.
"Yeah." Duh, of course he knew that, how could he not with the sleeping arrangement that Kato made? "What's that got to do with who you had sex with?"
"What if I tell you that I'm going to share my bed with David and Miko tonight?"
Alex bit the inside of his cheek and he stared down at Kato. He should have known by that kiss that there was something going on. His eyes, hidden under his long bangs, sent daggers at Kato. Slut. And that damn old pervert.
"Alex?"
Alex relaxed his jaw and there was a hint of a coppery taste in his mouth. "Does that mean I don't have to pull out that futon?"
"Get off me." Kato pushed him down from his lap and mumbled, "Why do you always have to spoil everything?"
Alex pulled himself into a sitting position and he watched Kato's getting up. "What did you want me to say?" can I come too? He didn't have any desire to have a foursome or threesome. The only thing he was ok with, more than ok, was a twosome with Kato.
"Nothing." Kato went toward the bedroom door. "Nothing at all."
