The term “multi-use space” has never had more relevance and meaning than today and there was a need to create a space that could be used as an office and a place of tranquil refuge. Originally this space had a full kitchen, cramped seating area, tiny guest bedroom and a very disjointed bathroom; however, beyond the restricted and unorganized layout was a spectacular view. Creating an executive-level space that combines working from home with a place to relax and recharge while maximizing the view took careful planning.

The ceiling throughout the main room was vaulted with painted tongue and groove and beams to add texture, height, and interest while an existing storage area allowed the fireplace to be relocated. New windows and doors were added and opened onto the new private deck. The space also now includes a generous, custom walk-in closet with a large window to allow for natural light.

In the bathroom, the existing dormer was enlarged to allow for the addition of a large two-person vanity, oversized shower, and a small laundry station. Large windows were added along the wall to flood the space with natural light and luxurious finishes make this bathroom elegant.

A more functional kitchenette with strategically placed hardware replaced the unnecessary full kitchen. To capture a lost part of the view from this area and bring in more natural light, a larger window was installed as well.

Lastly, the office space was completed with a built-in credenza for storage. Work, play or rest—this is the perfect serene getaway retreat.
