Originally built in 1929 as a 1,200 sq. ft. lake cabin, this home had been in the same family since 1944 when the homeowner inherited it from her late father who lived there for 71 years. With fond memories of growing up here, she tasked Sockeye Construction with a 2,300 sq. ft entire home rebuild.

Because the existing home was located too close to the lake to pass the newly adopted Washington Shoreline Management Act (SMA), Sockeye Construction had to retain a portion of the foundation so the home’s location could be grandfathered in. A 13’ x 8’ tall panoramic accordion folding door and a large deck create a true indoor/outdoor entertainment space that takes advantage of the incredible lake views.

The team removed the original pine board paneling, then sanded and refinished it to be used as a focal wall behind the TV and above the fireplace as well as throughout other areas in the home. In the kitchen, they built a custom hood vent cover using the pine, creating a unique, historical decorative feature.

The team carefully selected the finishes to provide a lakehouse feel, including a ledgestone fireplace surround and shiplap ceiling board as well as light blue painted cabinet and door elements and oak hardwood flooring.

Because her father loved round river rock, the homeowner chose a similar style stone for the master bathroom vanity backsplash and as an accent in the master bathroom shower.
