Basement/ADU Under $125,000

Lacking a bathroom or storage, the family’s dated finished basement got little use. Gaspar’s Construction came to the family’s rescue to create a multi-use space where they can play or watch TV together—or transform it into a comfortable guest suite when their parents visit from overseas.

The team started by closing off a space near an exterior door to create a guest suite with a built-in murphy bed. Then they installed opposing pocket doors for continuous flow of the area when guests were not using the private space. Custom shelving and cabinets around the opening provide areas to store their belongings and the blue shade gives this space the pop of color it was longing for.

They then added a three-quarter bath with a floating vanity and two points of entry easily accessible from the guest suite or the communal family space. The floating vanity helped make the space feel more modern and easier to clean.

With a change in carpet and a splash of color, the family finds the space much more inviting. They can now spend time together in their clutter-free basement and they’re excited to host their traveling family members.
