Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Hines Homes, LLC • Ross Elliott • Sequim, WA
The clients approached Hines Homes after acquiring their aging parents’ 1956 home. They wanted to improve the layout of the home while getting the most out of its waterfront views. In the planning stages, the clients stressed the importance of higher-level quality finishes and details. They also expressed the desire to incorporate mid-century modern architecture and design that could accept modern and eclectic styles.
In addition to creating continuity throughout the new and existing portions of the home, some of the challenges faced in this project included: proper asbestos abatement, substantial structural engineering that required extensive reinforcement to the existing foundation with new footings, reframing the roof of the primary living area to allow for a greater view of the waterfront, and removing and rebuilding an existing addition. The homeowners also wanted to protect and refinish the existing white oak flooring, providing a seamless continuation of matching flooring across all areas of the home.
Being creative, flexible and working carefully with the homeowners as a team, Hines Homes delivered a finished product that met all of the clients’ hopes and needs.
