The Black Keys are back with a new album! Released 5/13/22, "Dropout Boogie" began stocking shelves all over the world! I'll be going over every song on the album and then giving it an overall review!
Wild Child - Released as the lead single for the album, Wild Child quickly became a hit! It resembles songs from previous Black Keys albums such as Brothers and El Camino! Overall, this is one of my favorite songs on the album. There's just something about the energy of the song that makes it fun to listen to!
It Ain't Over - Released as the second single, this is personally my favorite song from the album! It has a very funky sound, and the chorus is awesome! Despite being somewhat different from most Black Keys' songs, it has good synthesizers, good bass, and an overall great sound!
For the Love of Money - This is where the album starts to go back to The Black Keys' roots! It has that old school sound that TBK once had 20 years ago! Although it's not the best song on the album, I highly approve! It combines modern TBK vocals with the classic guitar they once had!
Your Team is Looking Good - Not digging this song, it's probably one of the worst (not that any of the songs are bad by any means) on the album. It's a lot weaker than the first 3 but it still holds up compared to most modern rock!
Good Love (Feat. Billy F Gibbons) - Yes you heard that right, the rockstar famously known for being the leader of ZZ Top appears on this album! He doesn't sing but he does play guitar on the track. Probably one of the reasons this song is so good!!
How Long - This is another song I dig on the album! It has a nice chorus! Obviously not TBK's best song, but it's definitely a solid track!
Burn The Damn Thing Down - Another solid track on the album, but there's not much to add about it.
Baby I'm Coming Home - The first part of this song is a blatant rip-off of The Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider". As a matter of fact, it has the exact same guitar riff! Not a great track but it does sound good alongside the other songs!
Didn't I Love You - A good closing track for the album! Dropout Boogie makes you feel like you're in the deep south! I love most of the tracks on this album, but there's some I don't love as well! This one I love!
Overall, I think this was a very well-made album, but some of the songs could've been better. I give this album a 3.5/5 stars!!
