With the recent death of legendary producer Quincy Jones, I felt it was only fitting to head to my local Walmart and get his most famous project, that being Michael Jackson's "Thriller!" So that's what I did, but this isn't just your ordinary copy of "Thriller" on CD! Rather, it was the 40th Anniversary release, which features an entire second disc full of unreleased tracks and demos from the album's recording process! I believe Walmart tends to have an abysmal selection of CDs, but the prices for their albums are always great. For example, I spent $15 on a 2CD release of "Thriller", if I bought a CD online, it would be $15 for 1 CD not including tax and shipping fees added!
Let's be real, you probably don't need an explanation about this album and how great it is. Everyone's heard it, or at least seen the album cover! "Thriller" is arguably Michael Jackson's most legendary and iconic album. It's one of those albums where most of the songs are hits! This release is interesting because you get to hear a lot of the songs that were scrapped or never finished for whatever reason. You've got "Starlight", the song that eventually became the album's title track, and my personal favorite song from the second disc is the song "Carousel." Some of my other favorite songs on the album include "Baby Be Mine", "Beat It", and "P.Y.T."
Overall, I'm really happy to have this as a part of my ever-growing CD collection! "Thriller" itself is legendary, but it's really cool to hear some of the other songs that didn't make their way on to the album! It also sounds great on my new CD player!
That's right, I have a new CD player, and I love it! I was at my local thrift store again the other day, when a Panasonic SA-PM03 caught my eye while I walked around! My previous CD was a rather flawed Sony Boombox, so I decided to give the newer player a test. It was only $32 including the speakers that attach to it! The risk I took paid off, because this player sounds significantly better than my old boombox! Not to mention the fact that it doesn't skip! So overall, I'm thrilled to have a nice player!
