Famous dubstep artist Ray Volpe has officially dropped his 3rd single of the year! It took nearly a year, but "Game Over" is out, and it was well worth the wait! Ray Volpe is one of my favorite artists in the world of dubstep and EDM at the moment. I was even fortunate enough to see him open for Illenium in Dillon, Colorado just a few weeks ago!
In case you couldn't tell by the title, "Game Over" is heavily inspired by 8-bit video games, and the music that comes from those games! It starts out with a booming voice saying "GAME OVER", and then the music comes in. The actual song starts out kind of calm with just a 8-bit melody playing, but it doesn't take long to build energy! When the first beat drop happens, you are likely gonna get blown away like I did, because it gets super heavy! The second drop is pretty good, but I'll admit the first one is much better. The second drop is more high pitched scream-like sounds than heaviness. There's plenty of humor in this song, and Volpe makes it feel like a true video game experience!
Overall, this song is great, but I won't say it's the best of his 3 singles this year. That belongs to "See You Drop." However, I give "Game Over" a rating of 4.1/5, because I really did enjoy this song, and I'm glad I got to hear it before it was even released too! Hopefully I will get to see Volpe do a DJ set again in the near future, and I look forward to what he has in store next for us.
