Denver-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Blookah (real name Nick Jenkins) recently kicked his year off early with a 4-song EP titled Sirens. Sirens was released on January 9th on Local Void Records, a newly formed record label created by fellow producer INZO. Blookah and INZO have been collaborating together for years, going as far as making a collaborative album in 2025 titled Nexum. Sirens is Blookah's first full project since Nexum.
Sirens begins with "Real Love", a fairly laidback song with some lush synths and a very dreamy bass drop, starting the EP with a rather positive and upbuilding vibe to it. The second song in the EP is "Go Fast". Unlike "Real Love", this song is more of a dance tune, with a faster tempo, and more upbeat drums. "Go Fast" also features contributions from Align and Jeanne Taylor.
The third song on the EP is "Solo", which features Lhasa Petik and has a similar tempo as "Go Fast", primarily in the chorus. The Sirens EP ends with "Without You", a future bass-style song with contributions from Dreamers Delight. "Without You" ends the Sirens EP the same way "Real Love" starts it. Both songs have a slightly calmer and slower pace, and both songs feature dreamy, lush melodies, which make the song feel positive.
The Sirens EP proves that Blookah remains a very creative and highly talented artist. Although he has been active in the bass music scene for a number of years now, he still has a lot of potential and is very much capable of achieving new heights. This EP gets a 7/10, a solid score to kick the year off with. Be sure to keep an eye out for Blookah, as he continues to play shows and make new music. - Elliott Dudoit
