The wait is finally over! EDM Trap Producer/DJ Knock2 has officially dropped his debut album "nolimit"! Back in November, I wrote an article about the Knock2: nolimit Tour, which had recently been announced at the time. In this article, I mainly focused on the tour dates, but I did also mention that a debut album was on the horizon, and that the album would share the same name as the tour! Since the album has finally been released, I thought it might be worth doing a review of!
Richard Nakhonethap, aka "Knock2", is one of the biggest EDM producers in the genre right now. Based out of San Diego, he has really began to make a name for himself in the past few years, with songs such as "Dashstar" and a successful collaboration project with fellow producer ISOxo appropriately titled "ISOKNOCK"! As I mentioned in the tour article, I am really hoping to go see Knock2 in Denver. He's an incredible artist, and as a person who loves high-energy music, I think it could be a really fun show. I guess I'll just have to see how things pan out.
In regards to the album, it's a 17-track project, with almost an hour's worth of music. It also features a large number of collaborations, and while I'm not familiar with a lot of the collab artists involved, it's cool to see how many artists worked on the project! Anyway, that's pretty much all the basic information I have about Knock2 and this album. Here are my thoughts on each song:
w/ SAYAK DAS: "rookie" - In my opinion, this song starts the album off in perfect fashion! Knock2 and LA-based producer SAYAK DAS give the song some serious energy, while also making it feel like an introduction for the project! I feel like this would be a great song to vibe with at a party. It's got groove, and it's got some sick drops. Pretty much all you need from Knock2!
"crank the bass, play the muzik" - I feel like this song kind of has a retro EDM feel to it. The synths at the beginning of the song remind me a lot of the synths heard in Darude's "Sandstorm", one of the greatest EDM songs of all time! Although it came out in 2025, it feels like something you would hear in the 2000s or even the 2010s. I think the retro sound is what makes this one of the coolest songs on the album! It's also worth mentioning that this is one of just four songs to not feature a collaborator, which is kind of crazy when you think about it!
w/ Naliya: "shake!the!city!" - This isn't the best song on the album, but as always, the energy is unmatched! The only complaint I have is that the beat drops are a little weaker than the first two tracks. It's still a groovy song of course, it just lacks the epic fee the other tracks have. Now would I come back to this song? Absolutely! It's not bad at all, just a little bit weaker than some of the other songs, but I still think it's a fun song to go crazy to! Also, guest singer Naliya has some great vocals on this track that really add to the mood!
w/ Rhea Raj: "fw me (dirty)" - This song features another guest singer, this time it's Rhea Raj. Her vocals are great, and once again, they add to the mood really well. The energy in this song is a lot crazier than in "shake!the!city!", so you know I'm gonna like it a lot! I don't have a whole lot of other thoughts on this track, it's just another fun track that adds to the greatness of this album!
w/ MILLI: "dance or dead" - The beat drops in this song are NASTY! To be completely honest, the drops are easily the best part of this song. "dance or dead" also features MILLI, a thailand-based singer, who does a really good job fitting in with the vibe of the song! One thing that's really cool about this song is when it gets really slow, but still heavy, so basically a breakdown. That's another great part of this song! Overall, this one's definitely a banger!
w/ Riovaz & cade clair: "party! (dance alone)" - This song has some cool vocals from both Riovaz and Cade clair, and the drops, as always, are fantastic! This sounds like something that you would hear at a nightclub, which is pretty sick! However, the same description I just gave could honestly apply to every song on this album! That's how great they all are!
"select@" - This song is pretty crazy (in a good way, of course)! As always, the drops are insane, and the sampled vocals fit really well! Unlike some of the other songs on the album, this song has a very prominent drum n' bass vibe to it! I really like how heavy the drops are on this track, it makes you really wanna rave! This song is definitely a W in my book!
w/ RL Grime: "come aliv3 (feat. Abi Flynn)" - This is easily my favorite song from the album! First of all, it features the biggest collab on the whole album, that being producer RL Grime, and Abi Flynn's vocals on the track are great! Also, the first drop on this track is super high energy! It kind of reminds me of "Dominate" by Space Laces a little bit! The second drop is still heavy, but not as high-energy, and then the final drop is easily the best one! A very awesome track overall, and you can see why it was released as a single!
"ready 2" - "ready 2" is probably one of the most high-energy tracks on the album. I really enjoy the drops a lot, as they're some of the heaviest on the album! It's interesting to me that Knock2 did not need a collaborator on this song for him to make it as exciting as he did. That, to me, shows his talent as a producer! Overall, this one is pretty cool!
w/ RemK & XAELO: "lights down low" - This song features RemK helping produce the track, and XAELO on vocals! Their contributions make this song pretty great in my opinion. One part of this song that's really cool is the synthesizer solo, which for some reason reminds me of the synth solo Twenty One Pilots has in their song "Vignette"! The synth solo in this song is pretty short, but it's still pretty cool regardless! This one is definitely worth a listen!
w/ Warren Hue & Holly: "shyne 4 me (feat. PIAO)" - This song features Indonesian rapper Warren Hue, producer Holly, as well as singer PIAO! This song is another one of my favorites. I really like the hardstyle drops, which work surprisingly well on an EDM Trap album! The drops are really intense sounding, but also very cool! I think the energy levels on this track are what make it so enjoyable for me! I can really imagine this being played at a rave while everyone goes crazy!
w/ VEDO: "fast n slow" - This song features singer VEDO, who has some great vocals on this track! This is another one of the weaker songs, in my opinion, only because it lacks the energy most of the other tracks have! It's fun, but not quite as fun as some of the other songs! I do really like the last drop though!
w/ Sophia Gripari: "my melody" - This song features singer Sophia Gripari, who's vocals really add to the dreamy vibe this song has! I really like the chiller vibe this song is clearly meant to have. I feel like most high-energy albums need a chiller song to keep people from getting too worn out while listening! That's what this song does, and it works great! I'd say the synths are probably the best part of this song in my opinion!
"feel U luv me" - This song was released as the lead single, and I'd say it still holds up with the rest of the album! It's what Knock2 is meant to sound like! If I do get to see Knock2 live in Denver, I really hope to hear this one! This is one of the album's best tracks!
w/ Sophia Gripari: "hold my hand" - This song features Sophia Gripari, just like "my melody" does! It seems that both songs with her featured are some of the album's finest! They're also some of the relatively calmer songs on the album! When comparing the two tracks, "hold my hand" is definitely the one with more energy!
w/ Bee-B & XAELO: "day1s" - This song features singer Bee-B, and again features XAELO! This one's pretty calm too. I find it to be more of a house track, if I'm being completely honest! I really like the slower ending this track has, it's pretty cool!
w/ Lauren LaRue: "nolimit" - The final track (also the title track) on this album features singer Lauren LaRue! I think this is a fantastic ending to the album! It's a perfect balance between calm and energetic! Overall, I'd say this is a pretty cool song!
This album was long, but it was also really good, and I can see it becoming EDM Album of the Year if nothing better comes out! overall, I'll be giving this album a rating of 4.8/5! It was fun, energetic, and very cool! I'm beyond eager to hear the next release from Knock2! - Elliott Dudoit
