After brainstorming 10 ideas, we each chose our top 2 ideas to move forward with. To evaluate the relative merit of alternate ideas, each design's concept was developed so it was easier to understand the task it would fulfill. We described the characteristics and functions more in-depth to accurately choose the best idea.
This smart coaster is a device capable of tracking water consumption throughout the day and keeping water cold with the functionality to connect to a smartphone or other external controller to manage settings and guarantee efficiency. Weight sensors are used to sense the amount of water in the cup and how that amount changes over time to evaluate the user’s water consumption habits, and it connects to an external device such as a smartphone to manage controls and preferences for optimal results. This would be a viable option because it is a very simple way to solve the problem by using weight to determine the amount of water someone is drinking.
This product allows the consumer to see the amount of liquid that they have absorbed by using a straw that is Bluetooth that would hook up to an app on the phone in order to keep track of the data that you would be collecting. When a liquid is placed into the cup the straw can use its sensors in order to recognize that a liquid has been placed. The straw can measure the amount of liquid that is flowing through the straw and records the data. This would be a good option because it is a unique idea that solves the problem of being able to track water.
This product would allow the consumer to be able to put their drink on a coaster and have it cool their drink as well as track the amount of liquid there is on the coaster. The coaster would have an automatic cooling system that would bring cold air through the bottom of the drink as well as use a measurement system to be able to track the amount of liquid present when put on the coaster. This would be a useful option because it would solve the problem of being able to track their drink as well as being able to have the consumers drink nice and cool.
This smart water bottle is a special smart water bottle that implements many of the features used in other water bottles such as maintaining temperature, filtering, and tracking water consumption to create the best and most adaptable water bottle on the market. Water level sensors are used to sense how much water is in the bottle and how that changes over time in order to evaluate how much water a user drinks. It also uses interchangeable parts that are made to be able to mix and match for alternate functions such as keeping the water cool. This would be a viable option because it achieves the goal of other smart water bottles but goes beyond with additional functionality that can be added or removed to create a water bottle that is for anyone.
This water bottle will have a typical structure that can be changed if we need to adjust it. It will control the temperature of the liquid and allow interaction with the user. It will also track water consumption and transmit the data to an app that is accessible to the user. The bottle will use sensors along the inside to control the temperature. These same sensors will also track water consumption. On the front of the bottle, there will be a small interface that the user can interact with and change the temperature as well as see how much water they have drunk so far and how much more they should drink. Reminders will also show up in the app that will additionally be featured on the interface so that the user can remember to drink their water. This solution is viable because it tracks the water consumption of the user, which is the main concentration of our problem, and it can also control the temperature of the bottle so that the user can set their preferred temperature. This will also allow them to put hot drinks in the bottle and keep it warm.
This water bottle will have a typical structure that can be changed if we need to adjust it. It will use a straw to track the consumption and vibrate when it’s time to drink water. It will also have an insulated structure to maintain temperature. Built into the structure of the bottle will be instruments to vibrate the bottle when they get a message from an external app to remind the user to drink. In the straw, there will be a sensor to track the flow of water and determine the water consumption, communicating it to the app. This solution is viable because it tracks the water consumption of the user, which is the main concentration of our problem. It will maintain the temperature of the bottle by being insulated, and it will also give reminders to the user to drink
This watch will tell you how much water you have drank throughout the day. It will always give you all the information about your body’s hydration status throughout the day. It will set automatic reminders throughout the day to remind you to drink water. The watch will be paired with a water bottle tracking how much water you drink throughout the day using a water level sensor. The watch will also be able to track your water needs by tracking your body's information much like how an Apple watch will track your bodily needs. This fits our justification through the use of water consumption tracking. It also deals with all the bodily health needs for hydration.
This straw stays cold or hot depending on your drink preference. This straw can be controlled by an app on your phone, and it also tracks how much water you have drank through that straw throughout the day. We could use a sensor that tracks how much water has passed through the sensor, and we could use a different sensor to test temperature. We can make the straw metal because metal will chill or heat much faster than plastic. This straw fits the criteria for the different temperatures for preference. It also tracks water consumption and sends all its info to an app.
