We researched different patents that could potentially solve our problem as presented in our problem statement. We analyzed them to discover what the goal of the product or system is. We also listed the pros and cons that we saw in each patent. We did this to get an idea of what solutions already exist and how they can be improved upon in designing a solution.
Patent #: CN 109292209 B
Summary:
The invention discloses a water bottle, which comprises: the beverage bottle comprises a bottle body capable of storing beverages, a closing component, a light distribution component, and a light emitter, wherein the bottle body is provided with an upper opening, the closing component is suitable for being positioned in the upper opening of the bottle body, the light distribution component is arranged at the closing component, the light emitter is positioned to enable light emitted by the light emitter to pass through at least one part of the volume of the bottle body before entering the light distribution component, and the closing component comprises a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism includes at least three locking arms extending in a radial direction of the water bottle up to the bottle body, wherein each arm of the locking assembly includes a resilient portion that is resilient in the radial direction of the bottle, the bottle body includes at least one recess in the wall that extends in the radial direction of the water bottle, and the locking arms are detachably engaged in the recesses in the wall.
Pros:
storing beverage
a closing component
a light distribution component and a light emitter
Cons:
Not built to last
Patent #: US 10,664,571 B2
Summary:
A communicative water bottle includes communication logic and wireless transmission logic technology electronically connected with a variety of sensors either on the water bottle or located remotely from the water bottle. The sensors on the bottle create digital data associated with the amount of fluid in the bottle and the change thereof. The sensors remote from the bottle, which can be on an activity tracker, create digital data associated with an activity being performed by a user, such as running, or the absence of activity, such as remaining sedentary. A display on the bottle can indicate to the user the amount of fluid consumed or a reminder that fluid should be consumed. The fluid consumption data syncs with other remote devices such as mobile applications executable on smartphones.
Pros:
sensors remote from the bottle
on an activity tracker
create digital data associated with an activity
Cons:
May be very expensive
Patent #: US 10,571,324 B2
Summary:
A method and system may track liquid consumption by a user from a liquid container using a flexible, network-connected, smart band. The smart band may detect orientations of the liquid container and identify sips taken by a user based on a pattern in the detected orientations. The smart band may also estimate a liquid consumption metric based on characteristics of the identified sips such as the duration of the sip. The identified sip as well as sip characteristics and the liquid consumption metric may be displayed on the smart band and also may be transmitted to a server for storage and for display on another network-enabled device
Pros:
keeps track of how much water you drink
wireless
Cons:
Can be expensive.
Patent #: US 11,013,353 B2
Summary:
A wireless drink container can monitor a person's hydration and prompt him or her to drink more if appropriate. The drink containers as described herein can monitor liquid levels and communicate with external devices about the liquid levels and rate of consumption. One or more sensors in the drink container monitor the liquid level within the container. A processor coupled to the sensor(s) estimates how much liquid has been removed from the container from changes in the liquid level and transmits a signal representing the change in liquid level to a smartphone or other external device. It also triggers an audio or visual indicator, such as an LED, that prompts the user to drink more based on the user's estimated liquid consumption and on the user's liquid consumption goals, which may be based on the user's physiology, activity level, and location.
Pros:
It wirelessly shows how much water you drink
Cons:
It takes up a lot of room in the water bottle
less room to actually fill with water
Patent #: US 9,506,798 B2
Summary:
Provided is a sensor operative to track changes in a liquid level of a hand-held liquid container, the sensor comprising: an ultrasonic liquid-level sensor configured to indicate a liquid level of a liquid in a hand-held liquid container, wherein the ultrasonic liquid-level sensor is capable of indicating the liquid level w3hen the surface of the liquid is less than 20 centimeters away from the ultrasonic liquid-level sensor; a radio transmitter; and a processor configured to draw power from a portable power source, receive liquid-level indications from the ultrasonic liquid-level sensor, and cause the radio transmitter to transmit data indicative of changes in the liquid level.
Pros:
tracks how much water has been consumed with a clock
Advanced technology makes drinking water fun
Cons:
Expensive
A lot of other options
