Element B
After developing our problem statement, we researched potential patents and devices that could solve our problem. After going through 5 patents and 10 similar solutions, we created criteria that we hoped to incorporate into our future design. We gauged how well the solutions would fulfill each criterion. We looked at their concepts and designs to evaluate the function they served and how well each solution completed it. After inputting all of our rankings, we saw how each solution performed and decided which criteria were most important to us and clearly defined them in Element C.
Problem Statement
Many people don’t get the water they should, often because they are uneducated about how much they should drink or forget to drink. According to a survey sent to students and teachers at a school in 2022, about half of the people drink less than half a gallon. Additionally, research shows that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated, and factors such as thirst, the temperature of the water, the convenience of drinking it, and other psychological, behavioral, and environmental influences impact how much water people drink.
