Problem Identification and Justifications
In Element A, we searched for a problem to solve. We made sure that the problem was clearly and objectively identified through academic, survey, and stakeholder justifications. The problem also needs to be defined with considerable depth and have specific details. The justification of the problem highlights the concerns of many primary stakeholders and is based on comprehensive, timely, and consistently credible sources. From these justifications, we developed our problem statement, which offers consistently objective detail from which multiple measurable design requirements can be determined.
Many people don’t get the water they should, often because they are uneducated about how much they should drink or forget to drink. According to a survey sent to students and teachers at a school in 2022, about half of the people drink less than half a gallon. Additionally, research shows that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated, and factors such as thirst, the temperature of water, the convenience of drinking it, and other psychological, behavioral, and environmental influences impact how much water people drink.
