The Ancient Frontier
There are seven Ancients that guard the verdant, savage jungles of Jaragir. They have existed since before the First Age, having been given life within the first tree, Amia. They are mortal enemies of demons, devils, undead, and the chromatic dragonflights, though millennia of being separated from their native plane has dulled their morality and caused them to forget their purpose. Now, they prey on anyone foolish enough to tread into their territories.
Dov, the Bear is a massive creature, even compared to most of his colossal siblings. He sleeps for weeks at a time, but when he wakes, the ground shakes. The giants of Toggosh worship Dov as the god of endurance.
Ferik, the Wolf is the smallest of the Ancients, but still larger than the tallest giant. He and his pack roam the Jubolli province and feed on any creature foolish enough to cross their path. The giants of Toggosh worship Ferik as the god of speed.
Yivan, the Owl only hunts at night. She and her children feed on both land and sea creatures. The owlin of Nashibi are descendent of Yivan and worship her as a god. The giants of Toggosh worship Yivan as the god of cunning.
Sin, the Serpent claims all of Takaska as his domain. He is particularly aggressive and has been seen venturing into other parts of Jaragir and challenging the other Ancients. He otherwise is believed to spend most of his time near the Known Lake. The giants of Toggosh worship Sin as the god of ambition.
Atixx, the Spider weaves her webs in the Kiallis province, separated from the rest of Jaragir. She and her children were corrupted by Pagaria during the Abyssal War. She has eight children and countless grandchildren of various size, intelligence, and temperament. Some of her children traveled across the world to spread Pagaria's influence. The giants of Toggosh worship Atixx as the god of intelligence.
Cerrus, the Shark is known to attack only demons and other monstrous creatures in the nearby Lilac Sea, but ships that enter the Bay of Cerrus have never returned. The giants of Toggosh worship Cerrus as the god of willpower.
Ledras, the Octopus is only rarely seen outside of the lake in southern Jaragir. He is not overly aggressive, but does not let anything get close to the fort called Arborvault. He is much larger than the other Anciencts besides Dov. The giants of Toggosh worship Ledras as the god of strength.
Toggosh is a city of Giants located on the shore of Loch Ledras. They worship all of the Ancients as a pantheon of gods. Each god represents a different characteristic that giants value; strength, speed, ambition, endurance, intelligence, cunning, and willpower. The giants make scheduled, ritualistic sacrifice to each of the ancients. It is believed that this is the only reason Toggosh still stands.
Yaras'na is a Great Tree located in the center of Jaragir. The wood elves here make less contact with the outside world that at any other Great Tree. Thus, little is known about their society. They seem to be completely undisturbed by the Ancients, even when they venture into the jungle.
