The signal box is scratch-built from 1mm card stock and cereal box card. The brickwork is brick paper is purchased and downloaded from 3DK and printed on matt A4 labels. the weatherboarding is made from individually cut and glued 1mm card.

The signal box is heavily weathered to simulate a signal box in the last few years of life. It has not be maintained as most lines locally have already been upgraded to electronic point and signal control, so it is only a matter of time before this box, like the yard itself is no longer needed.

The dilapidated appearance has been achieved using heavily peeling paint and mould and rot. The peeling paint is using the hairspray method, the mould and rot with acrylic washes, and the steps structure is 3D printed.
