IZAYA

OVERVIEW

Izaya is a counter assist that's normally used to stop the opponent's aggressiveness, reset to neutral or call out on pressing buttons. He is really good in the neutral game and can also allow the player to apply more pressure with his 5S being out making the player more cautious to press anything. Despite being a counter assist he can be beaten out by jump-ins or certain attacks that hit the player which will cancel him out. Due to his long cooldown time in Ignition versus vanilla, he isn't as good as he was before. His 6S causes OTG which allows you to do an OTG combo or setup depending on the character (notably Tomoka). It's very fast so it can catch people pressing buttons or jump attempts.

Strengths

  • Can stop the opponent from being aggressive.

  • Big Damage when starting from the counter follow up

  • He punishes almost any attack done to him

Weaknesses

  • Long cooldown time

  • Doesn't punish every normal (specifically 5/2A)

  • If he gets triggered by a multihit and he was just called at the same time, he will be canceled.

MOVE DESCRIPTION

5S

He appears in front of the player holding his hands up in the air. If attacked he will appear behind the opponent and slash them with his knife multiple times. The counter isn't instantaneous so in situations where the opponent jumps in or does an A attack, he can be blocked. But generally, you don't want to attack him at all. If used as support cancel he will go straight into the attack instead.

6S

Izaya trips the opponent with his foot and proceeds to stomp on them followed by a kick. Getting hit will cause the person to be in an OTG state. Doing Climax Art or Trump card will cancel the stomping before the 4th kick. This has a relatively quick startup with a bigger hitbox than what it appears to be.
