Erio is a tricky assist to learn with great rewards on mastery. Erio’s 5S absorbs the opponent’s attacks, allowing you to whiff punish. Call 5S on the opponent’s knockdown, making her especially strong on the offensive. However, be careful since the player can still be thrown during 5S and that’s the main counter to 5S. 6S has 2 main uses: okizeme and combo extensions. Be wary of neutral 6S call since Erio can get hit before she starts sliding. During okizeme, force the opponent to block her first slide and begin your blockstrings. Hit her AGAIN to continue pressure as she will slide behind the opponent afterward. Timed correctly, 6S can combo into a hard knockdown, allowing you to hit her on her return during the OTG and set up an Erio meaty.
Tricky Neutral tool
Counter absorbs attacks making them whiff
Good pressure
Erio is rendered useless if she isn’t placed in between the players
Startup for 6S is quite long
Erio runs in between the two players, wraps herself in her futon and begins jumping around. She absorbs any strike or projectile attack from the opponent, making it seem like the attack whiffs. For the first three hops she will absorb any amount of attacks but once the third hop is done she will return immediately if she was struck before the third hop. The player can also hit her and this causes her to hop. So if they hit her three times, this causes three hops and she will go away afterwards. She can be on the screen for roughly 20 seconds if no one hits her. If the player hits her once or twice she will still stay out for the 20 seconds, however if the opponent hits her anytime after she does three hops, she will go away immediately.
Erio runs from behind the player and throws her futon over her body and slides on the ground. After the first slide, she will run from the side she slid to. If the player hits her she will slide again. If the player does not hit her, she won’t come back and the move will end. The slide attack does three hits and keeps the opponent airborne and also causes hard knockdown. This can be repeated up to three times.
