Note to learners
Even it gives learners an opportunity to express their sense of humor as well as play with the French language. The game encourages learners to take risks to construct funnier sentences without being penalized for linguistic errors in their constructed sentences. Learners could draw on their knowledge of memes in their culture or in France to create a (multi)cultural experience.
Note to teachers
Meme ça is a game that integrates humor, vocabulary and grammar. At the linguistic level, players must identify the words on their cards, conjugate verbs, construct sentences and read sentences aloud. Players could experiment with intonation to present their sentences (and humor) more effectively. On a cultural level, Meme gives an opportunity for learners to apply their knowledge of memes in their culture at the same time as providing models to students of French memes.
Even it can be used in class or outside of class. The teacher could replace the word cards with the target vocabulary from the lesson or unit. The teacher may also replace or add images representing the concepts associated with the course.
