The family is represented by 116 species, distributed in 17 genera. They are largely cosmopolitan distributed in tropical regions, likewise, some genera and species are restricted. They are found in litter and soil, as well as in caves. Characterized by the absence of the venom apparatus in the movable finger of the chela pedipalpal, and the trichobotrium t lanceolate.
