Prism publishes poetry, short stories, personal narratives/essays, as well as artwork. We are looking for exemplary, emotive pieces that speak to Canton’s diverse high school population. New work will be featured on the "Current Issue" page upon publication.
Guidelines for types of submission:
Poetry: Submit ONE poem at a time (one per month). We encourage you to submit poems that use strong imagery and are insightful, unique, and relevant to Prism readers. We prefer poems to be left-justified (but love when writers take advantage of white space) and no more than one page.
Slam poetry: Submit ONE video of you performing your work at a time (one per month). We are looking for slam poetry that is poignant, intentional, and passionate. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, theatrical, and artistic in your delivery!
Short stories and personal narratives: Submit ONE short story or personal narrative at a time (one per month). We love good story telling that shows instead of tells and has a strong theme. Stories/narratives must be under two pages, single-spaced, TNR.
Art Work: Submit ONE piece of your art in a PNG or JEPG format into the form when it asks for a file to be uploaded. Feel free to upload a piece of writing along with it. We love to feature art and writing together when we can. For the "Why do you love writing?" section please write about why you love the medium you use.
Important to note:
Please only submit one writing piece per current issue
Not all work will be published
We will hold all work for the remainder of the year and reevaluate each month for potential publication.
Please continue to submit your work and we will do our best to publish a diverse collection of voices!
By submitting your piece, you are granting us the right to edit and to publish your piece. We will seek your approval if the edits are other than minor, grammar-type revisions.
