Mandala Dot Art
Creating has always been a part of who I am. From my childhood in Chesterfield, Virginia, to retirement years in West Liberty, Iowa, I've searched for a form of expression that felt truly my own. Over the years I explored many crafts—knitting, sewing, baking, scrapbooking, and even cake decorating—but it wasn’t until I discovered Mandala Dot Art that I found the creative outlet I’d been looking for.
Mandala art, rooted in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, is used as a tool for meditation and spiritual reflection. I was drawn to both its beauty and its calm. Working with wood, stone, or canvas as my base, I begin with a painted background and a few guiding lines. Then, using acrylic paint, I apply dots and swooshes in layers, letting color and symmetry take the lead. Each piece grows organically—I rarely plan the final design. What emerges is unique, vibrant, and meditative.
This process grounds me. It’s both soothing and joyful. As I work, I lose myself in the rhythm of the dots, the flow of shapes. Each piece is a journey—just like life—and a reflection of where I am in that moment.
Creating Mandalas is more than an art form for me; it is a way to bring peace, focus, and beauty into the world. I hope my work inspires a sense of calm and wonder in others, just as it does for me.
