CONSERVATION STARTS AT YOUR DOORSTEP!

David is an award-winning communicator, broadcaster, writer, speaker, educator, and bird tour leader. His mission is to engage city dwellers worldwide, encouraging them to love the natural environment around them, no matter where they live, through the medium of birds.

In his Keynote speech at BirdsCaribbean, David will give a quick potted history of his career: from an enthusiastic child yard-bird watcher to a dedicated international advocate for wildlife conservation. Throughout his career David has emphasized that conservation is everyone’s responsibility, indeed duty. You don't need to be an expert or live in the countryside to make a difference. In fact, his primary audience is urban residents, who are often disconnected from nature. David’s message is simple: even if you live a concrete jungle, your connection with nature starts at your doorstep. And that very doorstep is connected to the Amazon, Arctic, Antarctic, Congo, the oceans and everywhere in between. David’s dream is to inspire people to notice birds, highlight the mental health benefits of being surrounded by nature, and attract people from abroad to experience the local bird life that residents might take for granted. David does not think that this is a pipe dream. He firmly believes that all of us can make a difference and that it does not require much effort.
