The General Dynamics Corporation is a very large US aerospace and defense company with a long history of acquirement and mergers. In aviation circles they are famed for the original design and manufacture of the F-16 'Fighting Falcon' (now produced by Lockheed Martin) and the F-111 'Aardvark'. The company sold its aircraft division to the Lockheed Corporation in 1993, who 2 years later, merged with Martin Marietta to become part of Lockheed Martin.
