Founded in 1916, known initially as the Società Italiana Aviazione and part of the Fiat group, Fiat Aviazione (1918) was an Italian aircraft manufacturer. Fiat Aviazione merged with Aerfer in 1969 to form Aeritalia and in 1990 become Alenia Aeronautica.
