this feature is available to those who are on the APEX Satellite plan. You can preschedule and automate ball games, and it will play out the Game Player playlist. You can also manually control the Game Player playlist.
The ball games are created and scheduled in the Tools software. More information on how to do that can be found HERE.
Ball Games can be scheduled to autostart within the Tools software. This allows the user to fully automate a ball game. More details on that can be found in the Tools Instructions.
MANUALLY START A BALL GAME
You can manually start a ball game in APEX. To do this:
Open the Game Player window.
Click on the Open button on the top of the Game Player window.
Select a previously created ball game file. This will display the ball game and all the scheduled events & audio files.
Select which Source the game will be playing on.
Click on Start Game. The Game Player will begin playing the files scheduled at the beginning until it hits a FBREAK event. At which point it will pause the playlist until it receives a closure command, or the user presses NEXT at the top of the screen.
You can edit the game file using various functions. Press the Edit button to activate these options:
LINER - press the Liner button to manually trigger a liner from the Jock20 folder.
CUT/PASTE - select the Cut button to cut, and then Paste a file in the Game Player.
COPY/PASTE - select the Copy button to copy a file, and then Paste a file in the Game Player.
DELETE - this will remove the selected file from the Ball Games file.
PREVIEW - this will send the audio file to the Preview Player to audition off-air.
FBREAK - this adds a break to the list. When an FBreak plays, it will pause the playlist indefinitely, until it either gets a closure from the satellite switcher, or the user manually presses NEXT to send it to the next file.
There are four ways to end a ball game:
End the Game via Closure - with this option, the user receives a closure from the satellite provider that is sent to the switcher hardware. This will then end the game and go back to the automation schedule.
End the Game via the Playlist - when an End Game command is scheduled at the end of the game playlist, it will end the game once the End Game Event is reached in the game playlist.
End the Game via the End Game button - at the bottom of the Game Player is an End Game button. Press the button to end the game and clear the playlist.
End the Game at a scheduled time - the user can end the game at a specific time. This is scheduled in the Tools software, and has a specific time to end the game.
ADD END GAME EVENT - select to add an End Game Event at the end of the Game playlist.
DISPLAY METERS - select to add VU Meters to the Game Player.
SETTINGS - there are a handful of settings for the Preview Player. The settings that can be adjusted are:
Select Sound Card - choose which sound card you would like the Ball Game to play out. Choose from a list of available sound cards that the Windows OS shows as available.
Channel Indicator - this will display which sound card or sound cards that the ball game is setup to play out.
Info Font Size - this will change the font size of the items in the Game playlist.
Button Font Size - this will change the font size of the text within the buttons on the Game Player.
Start/End Game Position - this will move the Start Game (End Game) button to either the top of the Game Player, or the bottom.
