Day 9

Sunday the 2nd of July

Aamulla jätimme hyvästit Hallelle, joka ei jättänyt meille kovin kummoista kuvaa.

In the morning we said goodbye to our Pension in Halle. It was ok, but the neighbourhood was not the prettiest one.

Meillä oli edessä helppo etappi Leipzigiin, vain 35 km. Testailin taas vähän dronea, kun kerran tilaa oli. ​​Linkki videoon.

Leipzigin hostelli Five Elements oli todellinen yllätys. Aivan kaupungin keskustassa ja kaksi yötä aamupaloineen meille kolmelle vain 120€. Voin suositella!

We had an easy job to get us to Leipzig, it was only around 35 km. I tested again the drone near a canal where there was safe space anough. ​​Link to my FB video.

The hostel Five Elements was a very positive surprice. Two nights with breakfast for us three only 120€ and just in the cetrum of Leipzig. I can recommend.

Iltapäivällä teimme pienen lenkin Leipzigin keskustassa ja ensimmäinen historiallinen nähtävyys olikin minulle se kaikkein tärkein! Tuomas-kirkko, jossa lempisäveltäjäni Johann Sebastian Bach työskenteli kanttorina ja Tuomas-koulun opettajana vuodesta 1723 aina kuolemaansa 28.6.1750 saakka 65:n vuoden ikäiseksi. Haudalla kirkossa kävisin vasta huomenna.

In the afternoon we went for a little ride around Leipzig and the first historical monument we saw was the most important for me. The St. Thomas church, where my favourite composer Johann Sebastian Bach worked as a cantor and a teacher of the Thomas school from the year 1723 until his death on the 28th of July in 1750 in the high age of 65. I will see his grave in this church tomorrow.

Maistellessamme paikallisia viinejä tapasimme nuoren saksalaisen, jolla oli mielenkiintoinen yksipyöräinen. Fat-versio! Enpä ollut moista ennen nähnyt.

While tasting some local white wine at the market we met this young guy with a very special unicycle. A fat version that I had never seen before.

Ajellessamme kaupunkia ympäri, oli Arcus oli taas kerran kymmenien valokuvien kohteena, niin paikallisten kuin turistienkin. Näimme monia taitavia katusoittajia ja päätinpä minäkin tinapillilläni kokeilla. (Ei hätää, vaimokulta, on minulla vielä rahaa jäljellä!)

Iltapäiväksi olimme sopineet tapaamisen Kai Lüddecken, paikallisen kinnerirakentajan, kanssa. Hän saapui läheiseen puistoon koko perheensä kanssa. Pääsinpä kokeilemaan hänen luomustaan sekä myös vaimonsa erikoista etuvetoista venäläistä Bercut Special nojapyörää.

My Arcus was again a target of tenths of photos taken by locals and tourists while we were driving around the city. There were many street musicians around and I decided to join them with my tin whistle. (To my wife, nothing to worry, I still have enough money left!)

In the late afternoon we had a meeting at the nearby park with Mr. Kai Lüddecke. He came to see us with his wife and daughter. We could test both the beautiful self made velocar and the wife’s Russian Bercut Special, a rare frontwheel drive tadpole trike.
