Tänään emme pyöräilleet lainkaan. Leipzigin kauniit ja mielenkiintoiset nähtävyydet veivät koko päivän.
Today we had a day without any cycling. Leipzig is a beautiful city with lots of interesting places to visit.
Tässä pitäisi olla J. S. Bachin viimeinen lepopaikka, mutta koska koko kirkko tuhoitui Toisessa maailmansodassa ja rakennettiin kivi kiveltä uudelleen vuonna 1949, ei voida olla 100% varmoja, että tuossa lepäävät juuri säveltäjän luut.
This supposed to be the grave of J. S. Bach, but since the whole church was ruined during the second world war and the bones of Bach were found in the ruines in the year 1949 I think it can’t be 100 % shure.
Kaikenkaikkiaan kaunis kirkko ja ostin sieltä itselleni matkamuistoksi nuottiaiheiset kalvosinnapit kuoronjohtajan smokkini kanssa käytettäviksi. Valitettavasti ne olivat ns. halpistavaraa ja menivät rikki ensimmäisellä käyttökerralla.
Over all a nice church and I bought for my self a souvenier, Bach cufflinks for my choir conductor smoking suite. Unfortunately the quality was poor and the broke when I used them the first time.
Päivän toinen vierailukohde on STASI-museo. Round Corner -museo oli uskomaton paikka. Tiesin toki paljonkin STASI:n tavasta vakoilla vieraita ja myös omiaan, mutta että se oli ollut tuollaista James Bond -meininkiä pienoiskameroinen ja piilotettuine mikroneineen. Ihan kuin elokuvasta.
The second place we visited was the STASI museum. The Round Corner museum was an incredeble place to visit. I new something about the methods the STASI used to control the citicens of the GDR, but it has been something like in the James Bond movies with hidden miniature cameras and microphones.
Koska Leiptzigissa sattui juuri olemaan Urkuviikot, menimme Pekan kanssa illalla vielä Tuomaskirkkoon urkukonserttiin "Renaissance und Jazz im Psalm". Mikä konsertti! Siellä soittivat Winfried Dahlke ja David Timm.
Dahlke soitti pieniä Baldachin urkuja, jotka oli rakennettu 1994 Michel Stroblin vuoden 1559 mallin mukaan.
In the evening we attended an organ concert in the St. Thomas church with a title ”Renaissance und Jazz im Psalm” by Winfried Dahlke and David Timm.
What a concert! Dahlke played the small Baldachin organ made in 1994 after the model of Michael Strobl from 1559.
Konsertin parasta antia oli urkuri David Timmin soitto. Hän lohti kirkon suurista uruista sellaisia sävyjä, jollaisia en ollut ennen kuullut. Se oli jazzia ja parhaimillaan jopa progressiivista rockia!
But the best part of the concert were the improvisations of the organist David Timm. He played the two other big organs of the church. It was jazz or more to say progressive rock! I have never heard such sounds from an church organ. Just amazing!
