Day 13

13th day, the 6th of July

Tänään kävimme kuuluisalla Brandenburgin portilla. Siellä oli runsaasti poliiseja, mutta he eivät olleet kiinnostuneita erikoisista ajopeleistämme. Saimme otettua hienoja kuvia. Lähtiessämme pois kaupungista jouduimme ajamaan kaupungissa melkoisen tovin autojen seassa, mutta kun pyöräteitä alkoi ilmestyä katukuvaan, sujui matkantekomme huomattavasti leppoisammin.

The next day we visited the famous Brandenburger Tor. There were a lot of polices around, but no one was interested in our rear recumbents. I took some good photos. When we left the city we had to drive a while between the cars, but when the bike lanes started could we drive much more relaxed.

Noin 60 km Berliinistä pohjoiseen osuimme Kremmenissä ehkä reissun kauneimmalle tielle. Perinteinen saksalainen vanhojen puiden reunustama "Allee" on kyllä säilyttämisen arvoinen. Kohdallemme osunut tienpätkä olikin saanut vuoden "Allee"-kunniamaininnan vuonna 2011. Hauska yksityiskohta oli, että jokaikinen puu oli numeroitu ja merkitty pienellä kolikonkokoisella numerolaatalla.

Around 60 km north from Berlin in Kremmen we saw probably the most beautiful road of the whole tour. The German "Allee" is an old road with trees at both sides. The one we rode was nominated as the "Allee" of the year in 2011. A funny thing was that very single tree was numbered and marked with a coin sized plate.

Majapaikkamme Pension Oelke Neuruppinissa sijaitsi kauniilla vanhalla kadulla talossa, jos oli ollut majatalo jo satakunta vuotta. Koska olimme Ruppiner-järven rannalla, piti meidän tietysti päästä rantaravintolaan oluelle maisemia ihailemaan. Samalla sain houkuteltua Pekan maistamaan Berliner Weiße -olutta. Sehän paikallinen erikoisuus, jossa on sopivassa suhteessa olutta ja mehua!

Our hotel Pension Oelke in Neuruppin was at a lovely old street and was around 100 years old. Since we were at the Ruppiner lake we decided to have a beer at a lake side restaurant to see the beautiful views. I also got Pekka to taste his first time the local speciality Berliner Weiße, beer with some berry fruit.
