PBL Resources

PBL has strong outcomes. In a randomized control trial, the PBL group outperformed the control group, achieving statistically significant results. The units include lesson plans for teachers to use to work with students combining English Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum for second-graders. The Project PLACE © units are used by permission and adapted from Nell Duke, Professor at the University of Michigan and Anne-Lise Halverson, Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, 2017.

Anne-Lise Halverson, Ph.D. and Nell Duke, Ed.D., developed PBL units designed to provide literacy and social studies learning. Their research in a randomized control trial indicated PBL groups outperformed control students. This video from Edutopia describes the use of the Project PLACE. Click to watch.
