The Boeing 787-9 fleet consists of 26 aircraft in two configurations with 26 more aircraft on order. The entire Dreamliner fleet is powered by General Electric's GEnx-1B engines and are all ETOPS certified.
Version 1 has 30 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond (formerly B/E Aerospace Super Diamond) Flagship Business Class suites in a 1-2-1 layout. The 787-9 was the first aircraft in the fleet to feature Premium Economy. This fleet type has Panasonic high speed satellite Wi-Fi and Live TV. The Boeing 787-9 flies predominately out of DFW, JFK, ORD, MIA, PHL, and LAX
For Version 2 the Boeing 787-9P click here The 789P has 51 Adient Ascent Flagship Suite seats in a 1-2-1 layout. American also has a new Premium Economy seat by Recaro featuring privacy "wings". These aircraft will have ViaSat Wi-Fi. These aircraft fly out of Chicago beginning June 2025
