American has 47 Boeing 777-200ER aircraft in the fleet and all are powered by the Rolls Royce Trent 892 engines and are all ETOPS certified. The 772 has two versions with different Flagship Business Class products both configured with 37 suites.There are 19 aircraft in the fleet with Safran Concept D (formerly Zodiac Concept D) seats, also featured on the block 1787-8, in a 1-2-1 herringbone layout. And 28 aircraft have Collins Aerospace Super Diamond (formerly B/E Aerospace Super Diamond) seats, that can also be found on the 787-9 in a 1-2-1 layout. 24 Premium Economy Class seats in a 2-4-2 layout. And Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra is in a 3-4-3 layout. This fleet type has Panasonic high speed satellite Wi-Fi and Live TV.
In October 2025 American Airlines announouned plans to fly the 777s well into the 2030s with plans to retrofit all 777s with Flagship Suites and an updated interior
